I miss Jerry, a real baseball guy. I liked Wagner ok but some games I couldn't tell his voice apart from the color guy, whoever it was. Young Shulman maybe.

No, this how they cheaped out on the radio pbp, they would do the broadcast from "Home" - Covid thought them they could get away with it, and save on flight/travel and per deim costs. Only the TV crew gets to travel.

I recall Jerry saying from retirement at the start of the season what a bad thing it is. And no change since I guess

It is, your relying on home broadcasts (opposing team), you'll also don't get to see things happening in foul territory or mercy on the opposition , you would hear it in broadcast there is delaying or he's waiting. It's crappy, but I don't think they are only team that is doing this

It's not very big at all. That's what happens when you mismanage the farm as badly as Shatkins have done. They did the same thing AA did, except they didn't build a juggernaut MLB team at the expense of the farm. They built a perennial underachiever.

not getting my hopes up for this and honestly expecting some corny template with a brutal silhouette of the CN tower. from colour scheme/palette to typeface to trademark character, nike is gonna have to dig deep to come up with something that actually connects the jersey with the city itself.

Atleast it means hopefully they aren't signing Chapman. Instead they'll have light hitting IKF instead ;) but at 20 mill less.

There's no way Atkins feels confident running back the same team without any offensive upgrades. IKF, Biggio & Espinal can't be relied on as a 3B platoon because they're all below average hitters. You can only consider last season a blip if you had previous seasons of success, and then had a down season, but this team had barely made the playoffs and hasn't had any playoff success in years, they need to make upgrades... This feels really Raptor-esque heading into this season, and I think it will end the same unless they add 2 big bats.

I actually think a couple of guys on Buffalo can make the jump and do as nicely as some of the crap free agents available, but Atkins hasn't;t earned the right to tease fans with specific names. The Jays haven't promoted an impactful position player since Kirk in 2021, and Vlad and Bo in 2019. The last regular outfielder the Jays have developed was Kevin Pillar. They have traded off a lot prospect talent, both position players and starting pitchers and some of the trades have been good. But the fan base isn't primed to believe that prospects can fill any of the voids on this team, and that's on management. I'd love to ask Matt Hague what he really thinks of Orelvis Martinez and Addison Barger. I've love to ask Mitch Huckabay, the hitting coach at NH, tanother coaching wunderkind, what he thinks of Alan Roden and Damiano Palmigiani. There is talent in this farm system, and some of it is getting close to ready. And some of it might perform as well as some of the free agents they might be considering. But you won;t convince fans in advance that this is possible, because the organization has never signalled that prospects are its future except as trade chips.

The free agent class was weak this year, with the exception of HWSNBN... I'd welcome them signing JD Martinez to DH, but the other bat would need to be acquired via trade... In terms of prospects, Palmigiani, Barger and Orelvis are intriguing, just not sure they're seasoned enough yet to be relied upon to contribute on a team looking to bounce back after a disappointing season and be a legit contender.

I don't mind this play, if it means we are going to spend good next year, on a première free agent. Like I said see what we got with the kids, do we have something that we can plug in at 3rd or 2nd.

Yeah i know we are wasting potential 1mroe year Vlad/Bo, and Guas and others are getting older, but we'd ne wasitng that year if we signed Belli to 7 year 200 mill or Chap to some ludacris multi-year deal anyways.

Can you call it a blip when you've lost significant offensive weapons over the last 2 years?
