not because it'd be good for the team, just because they don't deserve this ****. cade looks broken out there and bojan doesn't have much time left in his career.
Bojan maybe but cade sucks too he's part of the problem.

I'm still shocked Weaver has a job. His job resume now includes taking three years to build one of the worst teams of all time, possibly ever. I hear what a lot of people are saying on here about projecting what our players can be like, but right now, it's such a lifeless, depressing environment that I don't think you can truly gage anything.

Nothing embodied that more than Monty's quote last night: "It is what it is."

I thought Monty was an okay offseason move, just way overpriced and too many years, but all the naysayers sure seem to have a point. Cade may never be a number one, and everyone deserves an off game now and then, but that plus/minus of -32, four points, three rebounds, and three turnovers on 22 percent shooting in 24 minutes?

Pistons franchise player gave up last night.

Apparently, it is what it is. And nothing is about to change.

When you’re getting paid millions and there’s not accountability sure in the **** can be it is what it is.

The reality is you can’t really hold the players accountable, or you can and bench them like Monty has and get them pissed and even more pissed when we just keep losing. It’s all ****. Monty needs to go. Idc if all the players get traded either. Unless Monty is the face of the franchise and we burn it all down and cater to Monty **** Williams

I guess that's where our lexicon breaks down a bit, because I don't see Brown as a #1 at all. I think if he were the best player on a team, it'd be a treadmill team at the very best. I think he's a clear #2.

Yeah I can see that too.

What I mean is: If the Celtics had Cade instead of Tatum, they could make that work. Brown and Cade plus their collection of bigs, shooters and PGs, they make that work and still a very strong team.

But Brown is like a top 30 guy in the league.

How many absolute stud #1s are in the league? 10? 15? Guys that could have a mediocre roster and still be a top team.

So the semantics cause problems because if there are only 15 #1s, what are the Trae Youngs/Cades/Browns. The league then has 30-40 #2 guys and 15 #1s. Have to be smart with team creation.

And some teams have multiple of them, of course

On the Dunc’d on podcast today on their mailbag episode they covered the pistons a little bit discussing what direction the team should take. Their opinion was that Weaver should be fired immediately with his successor to take the view that the team is at year 1 now of the rebuild and essentially trade guys like Stewart, Bojan for assets, and take the long view through the draft.

It’s not nice to hear, and even harder to swallow, but I actually agree with it. We haven’t stockpiled assets like other teams and our team simply doesn’t have the right personnel.

Stew is still super young and looks at least like a nice backup big... that said, the real decision comes with Cade this summer. He's a guy we max or he's a guy we should be at least gauging his trade market on. I don't think its a great move to keep him and not pay him because that's just going to make him more unhappy being here.

We haven’t even got our young starting 5 yet, and that’s all Stew is going to be, an undersized limited centre that will bring energy off the bench. I’m not saying throw him away, and yeah nobody is going to trade the house for him but if we get assets back that can become part of our core I think we should move him.

I think Cade is worth having but he hasn’t shown that he deserves the max. He’s probably going to demand it, but yeah until he proves he can keep his turnovers down and actually becomes a good shooter like he’s supposed to be, I don’t think we should offer it.

Either way, Weaver has proven he can’t build a team and that’s not the same type of guy you want trying to rebuild again. Time to cut him loose.

If you're dumping the likes of Stewart and Bojan for picks and starting at year 1 again, I think you also should sell on Cade since he's going to bring the biggest return, and probably won't be stoked taking a step BACK from the terrible state you're already in.

I'd give the max to Cade. We have to overpay. It's Detroit.

It's bad when you miss the Stuckey/Charlie Villaneuva/Ben Gordon-days.

Starts with Gores. I wonder if his plan is to tank fan interest and move the team to Las Vegas.

Wish he'd go on record with details on this. From what I recall, he absolutely refused to play for the most part when he was here, which I can't imagine helped the team any last year.

This was one of the most fascinating PR moves I’ve ever seen. Cade is a good dude for doing this and a keeper but wow.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….
