Will Chet ever score 43 points in his career? I like him but probably not. My guess is Paolo ends up with more 50 point games than Chet does 35

Btw if you swap out Fultz or Suggs for SGA, does Orlando have the same record as the Thunder? I think the answer is a pretty safe yes

Orlando has 6 rotational players injured, right now. I don't think the Magic needs to change personnel they just need to get healthy, and they can compete with any team.

Is this some sort of reverse troll to make Paolo look bad? Both of these are silly statements.

Sometimes it's nice to revisit this thread cause it hasn't aged well.
Paolo will be an All-Star this season. It would be a crime if the coaches don't pick him for the reserves.
This guy is carrying the Magic right now.
43 pts, triple double and a 35/10/4/3 for an encore.
A "superstar" in the making.

Yeah, there is no way the coaches don't vote him in at this point.

People rating 3rd options over 1st options because of TS%

I enjoy advanced stats but some people put way too much stock into them. That kind of thinking makes posters say they are "concerned about Wembanyama"

Paolo is getting it done and carrying the team offensively.

Both players are very good and in their preferred situations. I don't think either player would be quite as good if they switched spots.

Either way, both made the right choice by not taking Jabari Smith.

26/8/5 in his last 20 games
29.4/8/5.7 in his last 10 games
33/9/6.6 in his last 5 games

Paolo has been a beast, and making it look like the Magic made the right pick.

Still, Chet has been great. Both potential superstars i think.

Then you have a bunch of guys in this draft with atleast all-star potential, or atleast really good players like Jalen Willaims, Duren, Smith. Some interesting scoring prospects that could also explode in Ivey, Mathurin, Sharpe. Even have some defensive talent with Eason, Walker, Daniels.

I still remember when people said the 2022 draft was a weak draft.

Truth, lol. Jabari is a decent player, might be an All-Star once or twice, but definitely not a number one option.

He scored 17 points in the first 8 minutes on Joker (in Denver) the most dominant player in the league, in the first half of his rookie season.

He's a dynamic, highly skilled scorer, that can score in most positions on a basketball court.

So I'm going to go with yes and plenty of them, he will have multiple 50 point games at the end of his career.....

Paolo is making the leap in his sophomore season, which is crazy. Him being a top 15-20 player in the NBA by the end of the season is very possible.

The NBA is doing a pathetic job promoting him & the Orlando Magic in general the past couple seasons. It's disrespectful.

I don't know if it’s disrespect, lol. This is only his second year and the Magic weren't all that good last year. And the Magic weren't expected to be all that good this year.

Listen, Chet is great. No doubt about it. Glad to see he's making an impact on his first year and helping OKC becoming a top team.
It's just a bit idiotic to me that someone would make a thread 1 week into a season proclaiming "safe to say Chet > Paolo" when player 1 has played 3 games, out all of 1st yr vs player 2 who just won rookie of the year.

Why is being a first option so important? Cade Cunningham is a first option. You still have to be impactful in that role for it to matter.

Right now, Paolo is an inefficient volume scorer with terrible impact metrics. His on/off for the season is a whopping -12.0! He's not a better player than Chet just because he takes more shots.

Thunder got who they needed and Magic got the player they needed too. Both still have things to work on (efficiency for Paolo, finishing, etc) and Chet can refine a lot of areas and add to his game too.

We haven't had a televised game since Paolo has joined, even with him being a near unanimous ROY & putting up 20/7/4 as a rookie.

We weren't good last season, but we improved by 12 games, and played above .500 ball after the 5-20 start

The real reason Paolo hasn't gotten coverage is because the NBA & sport networks skipped promoting the current #1 pick at the time to start promoting Wemby early

Great players win rings, not "first options." You're not a great player if you don't have a positive impact on the floor.
