Alex Wong @ Raptors Show Appreciation Thread
With the conclusion of last night's Will Lou's Raptors Reaction Podcast, he announced that Alex Wong will be leaving the show next week. I do understand that the Raptor's Show isn't everyone's flavour, but Will and Alex's is always a good listen in the spare time if you crave for some Raptors related (and sometimes unrelated) content.
As this is an appreciation thread, I don't want to get into possible reasons why he's leaving, but just want to thank Alex for his behind the scene work, and his genuine and positive attitude in the show! Wishing him good luck on his future endeavour!
*side note, he is still on the show for the rest of this week.

Won't have to hear about his side hustles on the show anymore. That's a win.

Yeah, they are glorified fans but for people like me who don't have real life friends that are interested in basketball it's nice to hear another fans thoughts. I appreciate Will and his podcast and Blake brings another analytics dimension to the show. When you're driving you don't really want to listen to numbers, you need to focus on the road, so hearing the passion from Will and his perspective from watching the game and not the numbers is appreciated.
I'm sure Will is going to read this thread. Will, I know you said that comments kind of matter to you, that is understandable. But the average RealGMer comment isn't the right way to evaluate your value.

Re: Alex Wong @ Raptors Show Appreciation Thread
I don't think the Alex-Will interaction worked on mainstream radio, but I'll miss him. Probably the direction is more towards guys who can talk b-ball strategy (like Samson or Vivek). Or maybe bring in a woman (Savannah?). With their beloved OG gone, the team has to extend an olive branch to female fans.
But Alex is a jokester, and I always appreciated it. He's a good follow on X. His gifs are consistently hilarious. And his "side hustles" are NBA related, so worth bringing up on the show. As a writer myself I always have time for guys who are trying to market their intellectual property.

Re: Alex Wong @ Raptors Show Appreciation Thread
Much respect to Alex for being an OG and part of the Raptors Show journey with Will.
It was clear that he didn't belong on the mic. I don't know the Producer's side of the house well enough to say how necessary he was or how he'd been adapting, but frankly, I think the show is better off with just Will and Blake talking hoops.
It was his decision apparently. Good luck to Alex on whatever's next. I do like him a lot as a writer. Prehistoric and Cover Story were both solid.

Re: Alex Wong @ Raptors Show Appreciation Thread
Alex is entertaining at times in small doses, but I can understand he's not for everyone. He doesn't offer much in actual game analysis but can be funny at times. Good luck to him.
Will is the one with the larger following, so the show will continue to move on especially with Blake back on the show.

Re: Alex Wong @ Raptors Show Appreciation Thread
I actually like Alex a lot. He has a great sense of humour and comes across as a likeable dude. I thought the banter between him and Will was very entertaining. I prefer the Raptors Show above all other Raps-centric podcasts/channels.
With Blake Murphy on full-time with Lou, my guess would be that having three hosts/anchors wasn't optimal.
I will miss Alex. I wish him all the best moving forward.

Re: Alex Wong @ Raptors Show Appreciation Thread
I always thought the banter between him and Will really made the show. If it was always analytical, it would be too dry to listen to. Also, when Alex actually focuses on making a real point, I typically agree with his views. I do hope this was his own personal decision as Will said because he is the heart and soul of that show imo.

Re: Alex Wong @ Raptors Show Appreciation Thread
Alex definitely brought a unique vibe and energy to the show. I can never knock anyone who brings mainstream media attention to the raps. For years and years the raps never seemed to be a topic of discussion amongst toronto sports media. TSN 1050 will mention the Raps then within 30 seconds find a way to tie it back to the Leafs.
All the best Alex!
Anyone know why he's leaving?

LOL! As a white bread part-Scottish, part-Ashkenazi guy, I'd love to think I come across as POC-ish. The reality is so boring.

Re: Alex Wong @ Raptors Show Appreciation Thread
Definitely deserves credit for helping bring a legit raptor focused show to the forefront. Listening to this show is WAY better than the radio coverage the raptors used to get.

Re: Alex Wong @ Raptors Show Appreciation Thread
These shows are a hundred times more boring compared to just reading the Raps realGM board. They have nothing more insightful to say compared to here.
