?s=20
Ham recruited Wood all summer, then decided to give him the shortest leash on the team. He's clearly a valuable rebounder, especially in defensive schemes that force AD out of the drop to show high on the perimeter (against Clippers, Warriors). He's also valuable when using his length against players that shoot over the top.
Wood's bad in drop coverage, which is stupidly our default defensive coverage night in, night out. He can also fumble the ball away often, drive into an overcrowded paint (I blame offensive schemes and personnel for this), or go cold from 3.
I'm hoping Darvin is making the decisions he's making to preserve legs or something. There's clearly another gear and tactical level this team goes to in games that they care. A lot of bad or mediocre teams are capable of winning any given night because they play harder or make more 3s. With the Lakers, they play differently in their big wins, in terms of tactics. Which is maddening for all of the other games where they barely look like a team. Wood is very clearly not being used enough tactically, given the numbers.

He is not a super great player or something like that, but I don't understand how we are favoring Jaxson Hayes over him. I mean there is this guy who doesn't do anything right. Wood at least is a good pick&roll/pick&pop executor. As absurd as it sounds, I want to see more Wood...
