I don't think Philly would want to max Pascal nor that there is some conspiracy going on. I think that Pascal wants at minimum, 4 additional years at the max with 8% raises. He wants to sign that extension which would be more than what he'd get going to another team. If a team wants to trade for him and get his commitment to stay, they will have to agree to give him that contract or he'll threaten to leave in the offseason. As concerns the Raptors, they don't really want to give him the 4 year max either. Pascal is trying to use the threat of leaving for nothing to get that contract extension from the Raptors or get the commitment of that contract from another team. The report came out that Kings didn't want to max Pascal so in turn a report came out that Pascal wouldn't resign. To top it off, we want Keegan and he's not available. If another team wants to commit to giving Pascal that contract in the offseason and has something to offer, they will get the ok from both Pascal and Masai and there will be a trade. From there, it is anyone's guess if we are will to give him the 4 year max extension. I think if we go on a run, it would be offered because then we'd probably be ok setting ourselves up to be an eventual tax team. But if we continue to be in the late play-in race, he probably goes into free agency and then who knows. That's my guess on the situation.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I dont think him and Embiid get along. This is me just speculating tho based on how they interact on the court

I would wait until the off-season to see what he would re-sign with us for. I would offer $30M for 2 seasons or 2 seasons plus a team option.

And then you'd get your face laughed in while he walks away to the Sixers.

if a team with his bird's rights offers him the max contract with 5th year, he's NOT turning it down. he needs it. siakam is about the money at the end of the day. he's not the level of player that can turn that down

Ideally, for siakam, his birds rights would get traded to the exact team of his choosing and be would sign to that team for the max possible. let's say that team is something like Dallas - a team that can't really offer Raps much of what we need and can be outbid by teams like IND and ATL. well then siakam can try and get there by outright BLUFFING and telling other teams he won't sign their 5-year max contract offer and hope to devalue offers from the raps to the point where Dallas' offer could compete....and best case for him, the raps end up sending him there with his birds rights for that big contract he needs

but it's very possible both the Raps and another team call that BLUFF and make a deal regardless, knowing he's not turning the additional $$$ down that the team with his birds rights can offer

Memphis could’ve become a legit Siakam Destination if he weren’t a Free agent and could be dealt to them for the lotto pick they’re now destined for

Have to imagine the grizzlies are no longer interested. Siakam destinations dropping like flies lol

Damn, It is almost like it's bad luck to want to trade for him. I think we have reached the point where we either go on a run and give him the max extension assuming he's willing or it's Dallas giving us Green, Hardaway and a 1st type deal.

Just another unfounded gaslighting comment lol

It's been explained many times that it financially doesn't make sense...RJ is already a big contract, Yak is on a bloated contract, IQ is about to get a HUGE pay increase (so another big contract), Pascal would be maxed, Scottie would be maxed out. You'd not only have nothing left to even remotely create a Phoenix Suns like "bench" lol, you'd be a repeat offending lux tax team and for what?!?

That team isn't contending, that team would be LUCKY to be middle of the pack and more likely a Play In team. MLSE is not going to eat literally hundreds of millions in luxury tax for that. That's just being realistic, it's not about "wanting to be bad" lol that's a childlike assertion, it's what is actually feasible if you really want to compete at the highest level and what's not. This is not a feasible option if you REALLY want to contend any time soon.

We would not be in the tax next year which has been stated in multiple cases. We go 8-9 deep now, even if you max Pascal, retain quickly, ditch GTJ + the other expirings your still like 13-15mill away from the luxury tax.
Trading Pascal for dumb contracts & far out picks do not accomplish anything of the sort. If there's a young prospect out there for us, sure, I haven't seen anything according to rumors and the proposals y'all are coming up with does not spark any interest for me.

As PhilBlackson said, how do you build a even a mediocre bench when you have all of that salary tied up in your Top 5 players? Now you're suggesting to dump GTJ plus other expirings all to be $13-15M away from the tax but still over the cap so you cannot replace that talent that you just ditched.

It doesn't make any sense man. I get we love Pascal, trust me I do too but it just doesn't make any long term sense to re-sign him to a 5 year max, which is what he's looking for. The team won't be good and trading him is going to be even harder, since he will be making much more per year.

As I've said before, those who don't get it - its fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but if people still can't see this after all the dialogue that's taken place on this board, they're not going to start getting it now.

Cade's injury not as serious as initially anticipated so Detroit still in the mix.

Wonder if the Haliburton injury might accelerate any trade talks. He'll be back 3-4 weeks maybe if its not too bad.

Are you really making the argument that we can’t afford Pascal because we need to retain GTJ?

Ya they've always had weird interactions from afar but they also got Nurse and his personal trainer there now. Siakam is by far the best free agent available this offseason.

Also, im just looking into Morey being hellbent on keeping cap space this offseason to the point he told Harden to screw off while wasting a prime Embiid year with his blessing. I will be fully convinced if Philly does nothing major and prefers to keep all their expiring contracts during the trade deadline.

Return to Toronto Raptors
