Thinking about this... I think Raps have gathered enough intel since the deadline on what they would get in a Pascal trade. They got another round of offers during the g league showcase. Seems they are content on moving him and are now just posturing in order to get more in a deal.

Sure but it will be with 5% raises instead of 8% raises. And he'll have to play out the season and risk potential injury or teams suddenly deciding to go in another direction. Personally my feeling is that is Masai promised to trade him, he'd sign the extension if offered.

My read is there are problems between the two sides and Siakam doesn't want to play ball with Masai. I think his people are trying to paint this in a positive light for Siakam. Masai always takes care of his guys. If he's not taking care of Siakam, there's a very good reason for it.

Maybe, I guess we will find out soon enough. My read is Masai is trying to get Pascal paid but doesn't want to do it himself. But if Pascal is trying to cause problems for Masai, he is being very professional about it. He could easily leak that he has no interest in extending with the Raptors or returning in the summer and force a trade that way.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

That’s the truth right there, there has been major friction between camps dating back to first quarter of last season

What makes you say this? Wasn't a big part of the friction between Nurse and Watson, with Watson being a Siakam guy and trying to get Nurse fired? Didn't Nurse ban Watson from being able to work out with Siakam?

It was weird to see Rico Hines go to Philly with Nurse though given the above.

IBM Watson?

Raps camp saying they are prepared to resign him.
Now Chris Haynes similar to what he said about Kawhi is saying Pascal and Raps relationship dead. Masai is in a tough spot now. 100% we are not getting much of anything for Pascal.

He’s a goner in my opinion. Whether he leaves for nothing or gets traded.

If they wanted him to stay, they would have extended him already.

It's a game of chicken, Masai can then say: sure go ahead and wait, and we'll just lock him up to an extension, he's down to stay on a new contract.

Why assume that Siakam is guaranteed to sign an extension with us in the offseason?

I can only go by previous reports, which have stated he's interested in re-signing with the Raps on a long-term (not a 2 - 3 year) contract.

Yeah there is to me little chance he extends to stay. If he extends, it is to be traded. But I think he just gets traded.

1. Siakam + McDaniels for Jabari Smith Jr, Oladipo, Lockdale, TariEason.

Jak/jontay/lockdale/koloko
Jabari/Boucher
Scottie/Tari
RJ/Gary
IQ/Schro

Only con I see is that this looks Scottie into the primary defender, which I don’t like. Jabari would be excellent here and the raps cap sheet would be in extremely good position going forward.

2. Siakam for Pat Will, Lonzo, Ayo and a pick.

Jak/jontay/koloko
Barnes/Bocuher
Williams/McDaniels
RJ/Gary/Ayo
IQ/Schro/Ayo

A bit tricky cap wise with Pat also a RFA and lonzo dead money for a year, but pick helps compensate. Key here is Pat Will becomes POA defender allowing Scottie to be the safety and in his natural offensive and defensive positions.

Both trades get key young guys to compete now and in the future with picks or cap space.

Add in a trade with Dallas where we come out with Green and Lively.

I think more than Nurse , Pascal probably wants to reunite with Rico Hines who has helped him his whole NBA career. its pretty obvious he wants to go to Philly and Philly doesn’t want to waste assets trading for him

Every minute a new team gets tossed in the mix.

Now we got Haynes claiming the 76ers could be part of the sweepstakes.

Im sick & tired of this. Just get something done already.

Why would I wish this were true lol, I want Raps to improve. But all signs are pointing to this and Chris Haynes has been right in the past. I am just restating what the media is implying as mouth pieces for these various teams. They are all conspiring to lower Pascals trade value. Masai is in a hard spot and doesn’t have leverage at all here.

Another reason why they dont want to pay him the max is that our leadership went to shyt when we pivoted to a Pascal/Fred led team. Some say that stuff is overrated. I dont. We've been a "quiet" team ever since Lowry left

It is all in the subtly of the language. He says he won't sign an extension with the new team if he is traded to the team and will wait until the summer. A team that trades for him can only offer a 2 year extension. That same team, with his bird rights, can offer him a 5 year deal in the summer. That's why his agent is letting teams know they are not interested in the 2 year extension.

I'm sure some teams are trying to pressure him to sign the 2 year extension, because they probably figure at the end of that deal they will be able to sign him for less than max.

This is getting ugly. But it also sounds like we are getting some leverage back.

Such a **** way to end his time here. I wanted him gone after the bubble but not like this

It never seemed like Siakam was a verbal leader, which should be fine as many of the guys at his level aren't either. We won a ring with our best player being a mute.

Also, Barnes seems like a baby at times when he clearly coasts during some games because of his mood. This stuff shouldn't take away from the overall players they are.

The only person who should be blamed for the past 2 years is Masai and Masai himself. The roster construction has been a joke and we finally look like a decent team again BECAUSE Masai made a move to better balance the team positionally and IQ wise.

I bet Indiana would rather trade for him and getting his bird rights. He's not going to sign there in the off-season outright

I think Woj's information comes directly from the NBA's head office in New York.

He used to tweet draft picks before Silver got to podium. Correct me if I'm wrong but teams send (call) in their selections to HO in New York.

nah. those are from gm's across the league, even the picks. he's a mouthpiece for all the teams looking to negotiate through the media and spark their own value of players

I agree with you with the vid in the tweet.

It doesnt change his status as the best insider of the NBA. 90% of the time he's breaking news on trades etc.

I'm derailing the thread my bad.
