Obi Topping could be available now and he has a low salary.

Can he be traded again before the deadline?

Another proverbial "big wing" for Brad. I wasn't a big fan of his game, until I saw his 3 ball against the Celtics. He's shooting .421 this season. Looks like he fits the Grant TPE too.

Raptors should keep him, but maybe they got too many players back and don't need him with those picks coming in.

I like the trade for Indiana, and maybe even more for Toronto. Perhaps Brad can get in on some action here.

Toppin wasn't included in the trade. They like him in Indy. I think he and Siakam can share the floor together. Toppin more of an offball swing. Siakam is now their secondary playmaker.

He wasn’t part of the deal, but now with Siakam I don’t really see why the pacers would need him and might want to recoup some draft assets.

The picks will be Indiana's own selection in 2024, along with the worst of the first round picks originating from either the Utah Jazz, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers or Oklahoma City Thunder. The third pick will be Indiana's own selection in 2026.

Siakam will be a free agent in 2024, but the Pacers appear to be trading for him with a realistic hope of re-signing him. Siakam can re-sign for up to $247 million over five years with the Pacers. Siakam is also eligible to sign a two-year, $81.5 million extension until June 30th.

I like it for the Pacers. Didn't give up much in terms of players/depth/young guys. Bruce was "free" via FA. That's comparable to what we gave up for White but they're getting a multiple All-Star (additional two 1sts in the 20s) instead who they can pair with Haliburton. Doesn't turn them into a contender but it didn't need to happen overnight. Also hard to attract star FAs there. Maybe they're really confident they could re-sign Siakam.

Pacers one of the teams I love the fit with Siakam. He can be their secondary playmaker, and be surrounded by shooters. They throw Nesmith on the other teams best offensive player, so Siakam doesn’t have to deal with that.

He also can get out on the break more often.

FWIW there’s definitely a wink wink deal, he’s getting the max there this summer.

I don't think the Pacers improved all that much on defense though (definitely not the way Knicks did with OG). PG-C spots (Hali/Turner) have to improve there.

Yeah on that last part this seems like the kind of deal where no team really obviously stepped up to compete for him so he said “I’ll take that Indiana offer!”

Celtics probably could get Jalen Smith or Obi Toppin if they wanted either one of them. Not sure they do.

Kenrich Williams
Moses Moody
Jalen McDaniels
Jonathan Kuminga
Jalen Smith (PF/C not really a big wing)
Dean Wade
Corey Kispert
Taurean Prince
Saddiq Bey
Zaire Williams
Jeremy Sochan
Torrey Craig
Simone Fontecchio
Amir Coffey
Naji Marshall

If I was going to bet, I would bet the Celtics don't get any of those players. Could be a real quiet trade deadline for the Celtics.

I wouldn't bet against you on this. Probably will be something entirely different or maybe stand pat. Wyc gave the go ahead to spend, so if Brad does nothing and the team runs out of gas by the finals, well....

I like Moody a lot from that list, and Kuminga, no surprises there. Bey or Fontecchio would be OK. Kispert and Marshall maybe. The rest I don't really know much about.

Sochan is available? I thought Osman was our Spurs guy. He'd be a nice pickup.

These are just names that fit. Who knows who is available? Probably most of them are not available.

What’s can we get for Kornet and Pritchard
2024: two first-rounders
2026: one first-rounder, protected 1-4

Why Toppin? Pacers are trying to win now with the Siakam trade. Why give away good rotation players? Smith might be more gettable but less attractive for our purposes.

McConnell | Mathurin | Toppin | Jackson

You are most likely right about Toppin. Pacers have a pretty decent team.

Just based on the reporting, they purposefully added a 1st/1sts so they could keep some of their players. So it would be weird if they then traded Toppin for picks.

Will be interesting to see what the Celtics do at the trade deadline. I could see the Celtics using two 1st picks to try and bring in a player on a multiple year contract at the trade deadline. Next year once the 2nd apron penalties fully kick in the Celtics won't be able to do much of anything. I expect Brad Stevens to be really aggressive, I just don't know for who.
