Leave it to Doris Burke to end our home streak.

I've felt this too. Carmelo is the 9th leading scorer in NBA history. Neither Melo nor Tatum are clutch or leaders or made their teammates better. But are gifted scorers.

Watching the overreactions of one game against the best team in the league.
While having the best record.
Sure, it sucks losing at home. And we shoot too many 3’s sometimes.
But seriously? We will be a first round exit against Miami?
Really?

Jokic and Murray shot way beyond their %’s.
Tatum and Brown shot way under their %’s.
That’s the game right there. One time. Relax guys.
Go and look at the %’s. We lost by 2.

The coaching staff has this man as a resource and we resort to iso almost every single time for EOG plays. I understand it for when game is tied and we want to run down clock as much as possible, but today we were down 2, needed a quick basket, any great look. Called two timeouts (progress!), got nothing out of them.

What's the old joke about only needing to watch the last two minutes of a basketball game? I don't recall it exactly, but point being, most games are basically just messing about until you get to crunch time, when coaching, execution, and BBIQ become paramount and the men are separated from the boys.
What I am trying to say here is that Joe Mazzulla is a below average coach and will probably be the reason we don't win a title... again. That is, if Jaylen doesn't beat him to it... again.
We are coming out of timeouts again and again with the game on the line without even the foggiest notion of doing anything but getting Tatum the ball and letting him go iso. Zero creativity, no wrinkles, easily defended. Clear as day, over and over.
If and when it costs us dearly again in these playoffs, I'm saying to go get Kerr and then trade Jaylen and every last pick and swap we have for Curry.
That is all.

Re: Celts Can't Dip The Nuggets! Loss vs DEN 1/19
FUN FACT: In the seven times JB has had more field goal attempts than points, the Celtics lost six times (DEN, @MIL, @OKC, @ORL, @CHA, @PHI) and barely got by the 7th (@MEM). He averages 2.43 assists and 2.29 FTs made in these games. Today, he had 1 and 0 respectively.
We got bad JB today. Inefficient shooting on offense + got cooked by his primary assignment on defense.
First time this season that both Jays had FGAs greater than their scoring output. Hard to survive such a game despite KP and White's shooting efficiency.

The Jays were 15-43 for 35 points. Jokic and Murray were 29-43 for 69 points. +34 on the same amount of shots is insane.
I would bet my life that Joe liked the shots we got.
I am correct. Joe liked the shots.
Except where he says they should have gone to KP in the post more.

That's just it, our two big stars underperforming is NOT a one time thing.

Celtics now 1/11 (0/3 from 3; 6/10 from FT) when ahead or behind by 3 (or anything in between) with 10 seconds left in the game.

The shot we got was as good as pretty much any from these nostalgic videos. It was an open look from 17 feet out.

Off-balance, fading away? Going away from the rim? With no chance at an offensive rebound and putback with almost no time on the clock after the shot? Disagree.

Both ATO calls were isos in the last 13.4 seconds with chance to tie the game -- one for JB and one for JT. Neither against a mismatch. Be better.

I don't think Tatum was off balance. Unless you mean to say Tatum didn't start his shooting motion square to the basket but no team is going to let you get an open practice jumper in a 2 point game with 5 seconds left. A fadeaway middie against KCP (who didn't even challenge) is a good shot in that context.
The shot went up at 2.9 mark and missed with 1.5 left. That's enough time for a putback. The fact that we didn't get the offensive rebound doesn't mean there was no time.
Even in the highlight video these ATO plays succeed about half the time. These videos aren't even including plays that get blown up from the start. Even regular halfcourt sets score about half the time. It's not realistic to expect a play to exist that can get a bucket at a much higher rate in a much worse context.
Also our original ATO play created two good opportunities for Tatum. KP just couldn't capitalize on the passing windows.

The first ATO was not an ISO. Tatum darted out at the start of the play but the play was pretty clearly designed for him to cut middle after Jaylen and Porzingis drew the defense.
Also Tatum on KCP is definitely a mismatch.

Re: Celts Can't Dip The Nuggets! Loss vs DEN 1/19
Damn! You thought that these guys already learned their lessons. Richard Jefferson is right. Tatum attacked the rim against a good defender in Gordon, and JT got in for a two handed slam. The nuggets don’t have rim protectors. The Jays are way too big and athletic to be stopped inside. They are bailing out thr nuggets defense by constantly chucking 3’s. If you don’t have it from 3, start attacking inside smh. 2/17 from 3 combined by the Jays. Same thing happened in the conf finals last year. Non stop bricks. Terribly low iq and poor basketball discipline. Tatum should just stop with all this dribble then side step 3’s. Its annoying to watch. Nobody will take him seriously playing like that. While Jokic is pounding us inside, JT has been bricking 3’s. Porzingis was unstoppable in the 1st quarter, but it seems we went away from that, and started chucking 3’s non stop. I hope they watch film and see how ugly and inefficient their offense looked like. If JT made an additional effort to attack inside, we would have won this easily. **** Joe and his live and die 3pt offense.

Mazzulla rarely makes in game adjustments something Brad was amazing at. Murray hit some really tough shots but at the same time if he hits like two shots in a row, you gotta change it up and give him a different look.
I think it was the gameplan to allow Murray and Jokic to get theirs.
Denver are way harder to guard when the role players are more involved
