Update on Randle's #s after those first 6 games of the season, since we're basically half way through the rest of the season. In those 37 games Randle is averaging:

25.8ppg (on 59.4%TS), 9.1RPG, 4.9APG

It never ceases to amaze me how there are always Julius defenders... It just doesn't work dudes. Everyone knows what Julius Randle will show up in the playoffs / a close game. Predictable, hardheaded, easy to defend / bait.

True, Julius hasn't ever delivered at the end of a game for us. Defending him is so easy, just watch the way a bum team like Wolves locked him up in crunch time

I'm no Randle fan but the playoff narrative surrounding him is kind of unfair. He's been to the playoffs twice. In his first ever playoff series he played poorly for 5 games with an entire defense keyed in on him because his teammates were Elfrid Payton Reggie Bullock and Nerlens Noel. He played the entirety of his second playoffs injured and got orthoscopic surgery immediately after they were eliminated.

That's not enough data for a trend.

It’s not nothing though, it’s certainly not a throwaway

It’s not nothing but I posted this in the other thread in response to a Raptor’s fan comparing Siakam’s post kawhi playoff resume to Julius’s:

Randle averaged 19pts, 10reb, 4ast on 53%TS against Miami despite needing surgery on his ankle. Siakam averaged 23pts, 7rebs, & 6asts on 56%TS against Philly while healthy...or can Siakam play the injury card too?

In 2020 Siakam averaged 17pts, 8reb, 4ast on 46%TS despite having FVV & Lowry as his PGs. In 2021 Randle averaged 18pts, 12rebs, 4ast on 43%TS with Elfrid Payton and Derrick Rose’s ghost as his PGs.

I know we haven’t seen Julius have the success that Siakam did before, but that was before Siakam started carrying the same kind of burden that he does now and that Randle has.

So I think he deserves this postseason to prove himself. If he fails again, then we’ll have to admit he’s another DeRozan who can be shutdown with playoff attention.
