I always fast forwarded through the Tony/Melfi scenes. Boring.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I'm in the middle of a Black Sails rewatch. A Halt rewatch sounds like a good idea. Probably next.

Does Al Swearengen count? Because Ian McShane's performance was absolutely perfect.Ron Swanson wrote:Not too many things annoy me more than when people hold up Walter White as the best and most complex anti-hero in the history of dramatic television.

Also it's recent but holy hell is Homelander from the Boyz a hell of a character.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

I think he's like 6'5" in the books.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.
Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Makes Tom Cruise playing him in the movies extra funny.

I couldn't watch that movie. Too funny.
He was indeed huge in the books. I read the first 20 or so. They're all pretty much the same.

McShane as Swearengen may be my favorite acting performance of all time. Perfection.
Rewatching Deadwood for, like, the 5th time right now with the wife, who has never seen it. What a shame we only got 3 seasons and a movie.

That will forever piss me off. Milch ended it so he could do John From Cincinnati. HBO immediately cancelled JFC the day after the season finale.

John Boyega will play young Eli in a Book of Eli prequel series
It's set 30 years before the film in the immediate aftermath of the nuclear event

Saw some saying Reacher was good here, so gave season 1 a start last night. 2 episodes in, enjoying it so far. Dont really watch much TV, do watch some programs while on treadmill, just finished Breaking Bad (thats how little I watch).

Interesting, I enjoyed Book of Eli a ton. Shot in such a gritty way, great casting.

Seeing Billy Mays commercials running lately. He died in 2009. Last one I saw was for "Mighty Mendit". It appears to be a sort of super glue for fabrics/clothes. Even parachutes lol

Re: OT: TV and Movies
Very late to the game, but started up Ted Lasso earlier this month. Just finished S2
Thought the first season was excellent with the second season being solid but not great. At times felt like season 2 was less a TV show about these characters' lives and more about these characters existing in a TV show. Sometimes a little too dramatic for the sake of TV. That said, there were still some stand out moments that I really enjoyed.
Saw something that S3 lost the show runner and whoever took over didn't steer the ship particularly well. We'll see

Really, that basically kills most of Tonys arc. There so many good scenes with Tony and Melfi.

I think it's because people relate to "everyman" straight-laced Walter much more than they related to mob boss Tony. They found his behavior more "complex" because they saw a guy dying of cancer and trying to make money for his family, and they found that framework sympathetic even as Walter's actions became more despicable and self-serving. With Tony, the guy was a philanderer and a criminal with violent and destructive tendencies operating in a world that the average person cannot relate to. Obviously, Tony had a lot of depth to his character, but it was easier for the average person to dismiss him than it was to dismiss Walter.
Breaking bad was a good show but honestly pretty meh for large portions of it. Doesnt hold up on a rewatch to me.

Re: OT: TV and Movies
The original Road House movie was great. This one though I will skip. Other than Zodiac I've never liked Gyllenhaal in anything. Can't stand McGregor. The only cast member in this I like is J.D. Pardo and it looks like his role is small.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

McGregor being a roided-up human piece of **** apparently doesn't scare away Hollywood execs. He's living proof that getting "cancelled" isn't really a thing.

Not just McGregor, it’s the entire UFC/MMA in general. They operate in a completely different space than the rest of sports, and it’s only getting worse and worse over the past year in particular. The wild unhinged **** that would get you banned from the league or at least suspended for a long time in other sports is just a regular Tuesday in MMA lol.
