My problem is that I had this preconceived notion that he was a poor man's Maxey. I thought he was this speedy guard who could shoot the 3 but also get into the paint at will. I couldn't have been more wrong. He's just a shooter. Dude can't create any space off the dribble nor can he get by his man. And those few times he is able to get into the paint, he has zero vertical explosion. I would much rather use him as an off ball shooting threat, then this ball dominant lead guard that dribbles the air out of the ball without getting anywhere.

He's been fine.

The layups and floaters will start dropping - he's young and will only improve at that aspect of the game.

Look at the positives - 45% from deep on 6 attempts per game, solid defense, and consecutive games with 10+ assists.
He's gonna be good, real good.

Patience is a virtue.

Another positive is his assists are going up. 11 and 10 last 2 games. I'm good with some 15 and 10 games as long as efficiency is good and low TO.

He'd fit better in a hub offense with more off ball motion and passing/handoffs as opposed to the more direct drive/PNR stuff we're doing with him.

Darko had the right idea at the start of the season, he just singled out the wrong players. Maybe we'll see it after the deadline.

Yeah I am quite shocked. I did expect him to be a little more explosive and quicker. Like he could get to the rim, no problem.

The scariest thing I've seen so far is that he needs a screen to get downhill and I was really, really hoping that we were going to get away from that kind of guard. Not sure if he has the ability to develop in that area but we'll see.

It's just such a game changer when your guard can get passed his man and it's been a while since we had a player who could do that regularly.

Some of you have to understand, when you are 6'2 it's hard to finish at the rim when a 7ft defender is waiting for you.

All the tangibles are there, Darko just has to get him in the right situations.

Are we still comfortable with paying him $25 million? He's looking like an MLE player quite frankly.

I imagine a team like Spurs or Pistons are going to put in a big offer just to F with us, though.

People who are shocked that Quickley is not like Maxey only have themselves to blame. I personally never understood why the Maxey comparisons kept coming up.

Its such low resolution thinking like comparing Gradey Dick to Duncan Robinson

Once the floaters start falling and we have an actual big hell look a lot better. Plenty of postives early tho with his defense/passing/3 point shot.

He was only ever asked to score off bench in NY

Now he’s a full time starter and he’s trying to find the balance between creator and scorer with a new team and coach.

This is a great season to figure that out

Are you serious?

Can you name another pg that's making MLE, averaging 17/6/5 on 44% 3pt shooting?

What's your point? A pg that can shoot ~40% from 3 is still very good and highly desired. He's shooting 40%+ for the season.

Also, we're going to mainly judge him based on how he's played with us for his next contract.

Reminds me of when Casey tried to mold Lowry into something he wasn't. IQ is a scorer and they got him second guessing at the moment.

In the regular season, 20+games as a starter under the bright lights of New York AND averaged 20+pts |5+rbs|5+asts|45%FG|40 3P% despite having a defensive-minded coach in Thibs.
He knows what he can do.

Don’t forget the “…with new team and coach.” So anew system and new teammates.

He said himself when he came that he had to focus more on becoming a creator.
