Boston should and will be extremely cautious with KP. They have a 4 game lead on the Bucks for the 1 seed, they are completely capable of winning most regular season games without him (11-3 with him out), and they have the second easiest remaining strength of schedule in the league. With all that being the case no reaosn to mess with any sort of lower body injury for a big man.

Jermaine O'Neal was one of my least favorite Celtics of the last decade or so. Completely washed. The first few months he was good to be fair, but after he was unwatchable.

Also I don't think they necessarily NEED a big with Luke and Queta playing admirably, but with KP's injury history and Al's age, they could use a Xavier Tillman type

Hey most teams are screwed if they are out their top 3 options at a position, Celtics can just roll out with BrissQueta and not miss a beat.

I remember listening to JJ Redick podcast when he had Smart on, he said that the Celtics originally offered him that mid-level but they pulled it and offered it to O’Neal after Perk or one of the other big got hurt.
