This is potentially the year we could shock the world! We need to get everyone healthy and make our run NOW. No star trade available except Murray. I really think we are a true contender right now if we can get everyone healthy for the playoffs. Maybe one more player can help us get over the hump. Maybe we can do it as is. I fully trust the FO to make the right decisions moving forward. This team could be as close as we have been since 1994! I have to contain myself but, it just feels right!!

Loving the optimism but I'd be careful. Thibs has his guys playing Playoff intensity in January/February while less insane coaches/teams tend to conserve energy this time of year. The real test will be whether we've got enough gas in the tank to handle playoff defenses running full-court pressure and double-team traps at Brunson all night while collapsing the paint.

Pound for pound, our talent level needs every advantage it can get, so I just hope that our mid-season dominance doesn't come at the cost of playoff performance later. And conversely I just hope that these sandbagging teams don't come out fresh when it counts.

You did read my last sentence right? I know I need to calm down. It just seems to me like we are a contender right now. Not next year. Not after some mystery trade for a superstar we have no clue about. This year. If we are healthy of course. We could just add a small but solid depth mov or two and be set up for a run. Thibs being a mad man is an issue for sure. Hopefully we can overcome that issue.

I don't buy into teams sandbagging. Maybe not as crazy as Thibs but, teams aren't sandbagging it out there. They let up at the end of the year when seeding is set or close to it. Not in January.

Yeah, and I appreciate the conversation because I'm over here curbing my own enthusiasm too.

A few weeks ago I was on here telling you to cool your jets on the trade fever to see how this current group responds, saying it sure looks like addition by subtraction and that Brunson and Randle will be free to dominate the regular season. Now I'm saying beware Thibs and his track record of over-exerting his teams in the regular season only to fall flat in the playoffs.

Boston is pretty stacked, but we're seeing some vulnerability finally. And Tatum really hasn't yet proved himself as a clutch performer in the playoffs, so there's optimism. GIannis is Giannis, but that team folded last year, so who knows.

If I'm Leon, I may very well trade for a Brogdon type as depth because at least Brogdon just had half the season playing for somebody besides Thibs and maybe he'll still have legs in April. Or maybe I say F it and throw 5 FRPs for a bigger fish because maybe you're right and we're very close to the championship. Or maybe I just stand pat and let the next-man-up underdog story unfold while keeping assets for big game hunting this summer.

Any way you cut it, it's the best season in a generation and I honestly have no idea how it'll end anymore.

Well said. We can set ourselves up for contention for the next 5-6 seasons which was unthinkable a little while ago.

Yeah. I definitely had trade fever. I calmed down soon after but, that OG trade had me hyped as fuq and I got caught up in the emotions for a minute.

I don't see any big fish happening this week. Murray? Depending on cost might not be the worst idea. Brogdon? Brown? We could use a little help waiting for injuries to heal and preventing others. I trust the FO to make that decision and keep us ready if/when a big fish bites.

As you so eloquently ended your post, best season in a generation. I am here for the ride and enjoying all of it. Dating back to last season I have been entertained and rooting for wins. Now I want MORE!!! Glad all of us get to feel like winners with this team again. It has been far too long and far too little.

Thibs in Chicago when everyone healthy has played many times up to 11 man rotation!

his problem is that he doesnt trust the end of the bench to replace those who arent available from the top

He has no reason not to trust almost the entire team. Jacob Toppin has been phenomenal in dev league. Only way to prove he can play is to let him play. He can shoot, he can defend, he is athletic as all hell.

Hart / Sims / Achiuwa
Achiuwa / Toppin / Sims
Hart / Toppin / Fournier
Donte / Fournier / McBride
Brunson / McBride / Flynn

Still 10 man available and worthy and deserving to play

Softies dont play defense... all stars games in 90s had much more defensive intensity than most of the games today

Exactly. And it's so interesting that these teams who average 120+ per game don't come anywhere near that when they play us. Why??? Because defense matters!!!

with a full healthy squad and a Randle comitted to defense our opp average wouldnt be more than 92ppg

and today you have the three point attempts in same margins as the mid range J in the past, whic makes automatically for 10 to 20 pts more and the fouls which are an extra 10-20 pts more!

and the lack of effort and focus leads also to second chance points, fast break points and easy dunks and layups off the cuts!

PS: no hand checks and the 3 seconds in the paint when defending

the loss of mid range game, post up game and the flex offense is pretty sad and dramatic!

the shot charts look awful nowdays… almost zero shots from 10-22feets away

I heard somewhere that Giannis may be resisting the idea of playing as the roll man.

If this is true, then their possible lack of success would be on him.

Because Giannis screening for Dame is scary for any defense, and I believe Doc is on record (as an analyst) being in favor of more PNRs in Milwaukee.

Giannis going through is Dwight Howard 2012 phase. Just refusing to be the roll man.

I wish I remember which nba podcast I heard it on but apparently they only run it like 8 times a game? Maybe Zach Lowe? That just doesn’t seem like anywhere close to enough possessions.

The bucks already had a mutiny against the defense Griffin was trying to run, so it seems plausible that Giannis did the same thing offensively.

I’d prefer that Giannis doesn’t listen to doc and keeps being adamant that he doesn’t want to be the roll man though. Much better for us

cRaptors walking a tightrope with their 1st rounder being owed to the Spurs if it falls outside of the top 6.

One win streak and that pick is gone.

Kuminga is going crazy. I feel like he might be one of those guys that, in retrospect, it would have worth to severely overpay for in the moment everything looked shaky regarding his future with the Warriors.
