Eh, if they didn't explode when Burnes was moved I don't think we'll see much of an uproar when Adames is traded.

Willie is more popular than Burnes so that will rile up some people
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I think I make a mistake of reading the Twitter comments or other boards or whatever, because the negative voices are the loudest, but it always reminds me that I think MLB is the biggest gap between fan understanding and what is realistic and smart.
I understand that 99% of fans just want to go to the field, drink some beers, and casually follow during the season, but I cannot believe still how many people think that trading Burnes is a sign that Attanasio is going to sell the team and that they are trying to lose, etc. when it's just the realistic way you have to run things for the Brewers. These same people are gonna forget they were mad and said it was stupid in 2 years when they're in the NLCS or something and then they're gonna freak out again in 2027.

Yeah, I don't know if it's just my Facebook but the amount of dumb takes I saw on the Burnes trade and potential Adames trade is staggering. "Why trade away your good players?" "Most teams try to get better not worse!" Just no understanding of the salary or nuance involved and the aspect of letting a guy you can't afford walk for nothing

Agreed. Maybe I’m the dumbass because I stay invested each year and buy into the cash out method to bridge the next era, but its the right thing to do. Its more of a MLB problem than Brewers.
And honestly, maybe I’m delusional, but if Peralta pitches to his potential and the rest of the staff holds their own I’m not convinced this still isn’t a playoff team. I do think the offense is going to be better and feel bullpen/defense are strengths. Its a matter of the rotation.

My sister is going to absolutely lose her gourd when we trade Willy. He has tons of charisma and hits dingers (for a SS).
Willy is going to be the Brewers casual's "WE TRADED JRUE!?"

I'm looking at their current win total of 75 and having a hard time not hammering the over.
It's a well-run organization like the Rays. I could see a world where they trade Willy and Devin in the next month and the team plays pretty well but punts in July one more time...but more likely, they have a baseline of a great defense and bullpen no matter what. I think they may make one more splash. I think they'll be in the mix unless a lot of these young guys fall flat on their faces.

I'm cautiously optimistic but as far as betting real money on their wins total over what would scare me is they just have so many young guys that's it's almost guaranteed that some will struggle. And these are quality enough prospects where they kind of have to let them play through the struggles to see what you really have.

I also feel like Attanasio is not going to want to completely tank after Counsell bouncing to the Cubs. He seems like he could be a little petty. Maybe I’m wrong. I also don’t see them paying out for Hoskins if plan to punt the season. Just doesn’t add up. I do feel another move is going to happen.

Yeah it makes no sense to pay Hoskins $17 million while cashing out other guys.
Books have us +650 to win the division behind Cards, Cubs and Reds.

It does if you're going to spend a certain amount regardless and know that you can simply flip Hoskins in July for another prospect or two.

I really hope they're working like hell on a plan for both him and Miso to develop repeatable deliveries.

You guys should listen to this pod. They're really high on Ortiz and Hall, but they gush over the Brewers overall talent level going forward.
Around the 32:30 mark one of the hosts does a dive on Hall's pitch data and makes a really interesting case that Hall made a significant change in his delivery, and that it had a huge effect.

Yeah I feel like if you're bullish then that's the better bet than the season total.MickeyDavis wrote:Thunder Muscle wrote:I also feel like Attanasio is not going to want to completely tank after Counsell bouncing to the Cubs. I think they will go into the year trying to win and if thing go well they have prospects to add at the deadline. But I could also see a scenario where they get off to a bad start and sell off vets in July and just let the youngins work out their issues. That could lead to a rough record.

I think it's a solid bet that Adames is dealt prior to the season. It's a good move from a value perspective but it's also a good move from a clubhouse perspective. The guy is popular. Instead of nuking the clubhouse in the middle of the season and having it blow up ala Hader, they might as well get it done now.
Where I think there may be an interesting move is with Contreras. Right now there's no need at all to think about Quero in Milwaukee. He's only 21 and he could spend an entire season in AAA. William is locked up for four more seasons.
But if they think Quero is ready it doesn't make much sense to move Contreras to DH. Not after he's shown he can be above average defensively. He could fetch an absolute monster haul.

Trading for prospects always scares the hell out of me. So many are busts regardless of how they performed in the minors. I realize the more you obtain the better the odds of some panning out. But most never do. It's the only choice we have though.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Ethan Small has been traded to the Giants for cash. He was DFA a few days ago.

Have heard of him but not super familiar with his skill level. Seems like was alright last season and a possible back end rotation option.
