It's probably a good thing I'm only playing Remake now because it's just in the last six months I actually calibrated and figured out my expensive-ass surround system. I'm very much loving the music and sound affects.

He's actually much more personable in the remake than he was in the original. I don't think he's really an **** to anyone besides Barrett

I think your opinion will change, but it needs time. Your newness, combined with SE's decision to extend a 4-hour story segment into a 35-hour long game, is exacerbating this for you.

He's brooding but definitely not a dick. But will leave the rest for you to find out.

I think it's incredible, but I never quite know what people mean by itemization. This is a good summary if you don't mind ~5m of video. It flows right into the crafting system too, which is wonderful.

In the original he usually just said "..." he didn't really have a full personality.

I love FF7 but RS is 100% right. Cloud is the worst kind of cliche, emo-anime protagonist lol (it doesn't help that I hate the voice actor they gave him). He gets better as the story goes on but it's all about the supporting characters. Barrett, Yuffie, Cid, and Red are the best.

Only played about 25 hrs of Elden Ring when it released and then quit.

I just started a new character last week and have about 10 hours in. Is there any point in using a shield? Most players I watch are two handing weapons.

I also killed an NPC and got better armor but now I’m heavy, not sure if it’s worth it or not.

I’ve committed to beating this game, hopefully can do it before June.

Shields can be very strong since they allow you to do counters after blocking. Try hitting R2 immediately after a successful block. You should hear a special sound and do a strong counter.

A lot of new players miss this in the tutorial and don't realize how strong it can be against basic enemies.

To be fair he was the original emo sad boy. I thought the remake did a great job fleshing his character out compared to whatever the original was trying to do with him. I also refuse to listen to listen to anything dubbed. I can't imagine listening to the cringe.

Through Chapter 11 (ghosts).

Like:
- Tifa, Wedge, and Jessie. Avalanche is mostly great.
- Roche is amazing. Laughed like an idiot when he YOLO'd in.
- Materia system is solid
- Boss battles have been great
- I loved the Colosseum
- Ghost level was surprisingly moving
- Soundtrack is 90% amazing
- Combat is always welcome. Not bored at all.

Dislike:
- Cloud's so disappointing. Barrette is...problematic. Not a fan of Aerith either. Three huge caricatures.
- Man, f*ck Wall Market and everything in there. Just a few hours of my life I will never get back. Except Sam. Sam was cool.
- Johnny, my god, send him on a rocket to the sun.
- So much filler

I'm dying to get to the end and find out what the differences are between the remake and the original. I vaguely know about the spectres and that Sephiroth is showing up hella early.

Great game. Definitely gonna pick up Rebirth next week.

Alright, was waiting to hear what you thought of the combat. Since you do like it, 1000% pick-up the INTERGrade DLC when you're done in whatever means works best for you. There is a Remake/Rebirth dual-pack digital on PSN that is the same price as Rebirth on its own which will come with INTERGrade for free, which is what I did. It's another 5-10 hours and it's got IMO the most fun character combat wise. Really glad Seifer recommended picking it up.

Picked up Helldivers 2 after some friends kept pestering me to play with them. A lot of fun so far, very much up my alley as I love a good co-op game. Scratches a similar itch to Deep Rock Galactic for me.
