The Celtics would trade him for Embiid and you know it.

No they wouldn’t.

Maybe in your fantasy world where Embiid is magically going to show up in playoffs and have no injury problems. Maybe if we’re playing one season of NBA 2K.

Nobody in their right mind is trading a 25 year old MVP candidate with no injury history for an MVP who is 29 who consistently can’t stay healthy and has shown zero ability in his career to get things done in the playoffs.

Anyway, you didn’t get what you wanted in this thread. You hoped everyone would agree with your nonsensical OP so you can have your Tatum bash thread. Except hardly a soul agrees with you and like some of your ridiculous Embiid takes you’ve made a fool of yourself again.

I wasn’t thinking Tatum was a top 3 player, but after considering what I’d accept in a trade for him he might be. I really can’t think of trade that I would realistically make if I was Brad. Tatum is that valuable.

Jayson Tatum has 0 argument for best player in the league. Guys like Joker, Giannis, Embiid and Luka are unquestionably better than him.

We can’t have honest conversations about Joker playing at a GOAT level and then simultaneously say that Tatum is in the conversation.

Looking back historically, Tatum isn’t playing in the level of Kobe or DWade. He is a clear tear below.

The concern is being the only one who believes it. Which is very strong reason of believing something WRONG.
Like others said to Lebron, if you have to tell yourself you are the GOAT, you are not.

Yeah LeBron thinking very highly of his abilities has worked out terribly over the course of his career.

You are distorting what I said.
Talking about their abilities is done by most of them and don't think harmed anyone, included Lebron.
But going to the point I made, Lebron calling himself the GOAT did work for him much worse than MJ not doing it.

If Denver called about trading Jokic for Tatum/KP, Stevens would be driving them to Logan airport before Calvin Booth could even put the phone down.

Holiday/White/Brown/Al/Jokic would be literally insane.

He's good enough to be the #1 on the best team in the league, so full credit to him. But he's just another player when compared to Jokic. That's like comparing Clyde to Mike.

This this this -

Dude needs to think that

Um I think it's fine to take an underdog mentality rather than an "I'm already the best in the league mentality". Like you need to prove it or whatever. I don't know if they kids like Tatum really have that mentallity, even though obviously Tatum is really good at basketball.

And I'm not saying he doesn't or anything, just I don't know that he does. Like the guy who answers interview questions being like I know I'm the best player in the league, its like you're watching it and going "oh ok, but are you?"

The way they positioned the question he had to answer that way. None of the top guys would answer different other than Giannis, Jokic or Embiid-

Giannis and Jokic with false or authentic humility because they have done everything possible in the NBA. All they can do is do it again…

And Embiid because he knows Jokic is the best on earth and that will change only if he wins a ring.

Luka, Booker, Tatum, and all the other guys got conseding anything to anyone - they shouldn’t either - these guys are trying to be in the pantheon and there are limited spots-

Only 1 or 2 of them gonna be there

Someone is going to be Kobe and the other Tmac !

I haven't commented in this thread until now because it's exceptionally lame and I generally prefer to let lame stuff speak for itself lol.

But did everyone actually listen to or read his comments?

“I got a lot respect for a lot guys in the league,” Tatum told Andrews. “Giannis (Antetokounmpo) for sure. (Nikola) Jokic, obviously he just won. (Joel) Embiid, guys that have won MVPs. The list goes on. I truly do believe every night I step on the floor, I’m the best player.”

Even Bob Myers (who normally hates on JT) said on ABC last night that the comment was perfect. It shows respect for the other great players in the NBA, but shows that Tatum wants to and thinks he can beat them. If you're going to win a championship you have to beat the other great players. And you're not going to beat them if you don't think you're the best player on the court.

Like what are we even doing here aside from the OP wanted some Embiid hype content on the GB and had to reach for it since Embiid isn't playing right now? You'd think Sixers fans would be thankful JT went off for 51 in Game 7 last year and got Doc fired lol. (Or one Sixers fan at least, I don't want to overgeneralize.)

Also the Celtics would not trade Tatum for Embiid at all ever. Ok that's my comment. Carry on.

Someone needs to set this guy straight in the playoffs. Yeah yeah, he does it to Embiid every year. He's got a good record in the playoffs, but by no mean is he the best player in the world.

I'd argue the following are all better than him.

Embiid
Jokic
Giannis
Luka
SGA
Steph Curry
Kevin Durant
Jimmy Butler
LeBron James

There is no way Tatum is the best player in the league, everyone on this planet knows that. But he is available and on the court, and that goes a long way!

However, I would like to see him step up come playoff time more than anything else

As a Celts fan Luka is a definite no. Team mates of JT feel included and don't have to cover for him on the defensive end. I'm not going to get into who the better player is, people can have their opinion on that, I think it's JT when you factor in both sides but don't think it's ridiculous for others to think otherwise at all.

However JT is by far the easier player to build around.

SGA is great but don't see a need for Boston to make that trade.

Wemby definitely makes you think, but we are trying to contend now and that possibly makes us take a step back, but you'd still consider it.

Jokic is the better player right now no question. So again you'd probably end up doing that trade if you didn't have to give up much else, but as a Celts fan I'd also be happy enough in our situation not to if we had to give up another player of note. At 25yo and someone who has improved every year, I'm also happy to bank on more improvement the next 2/3 years from JT.

In isolation do I think JT is the best in the league right now? No, but that doesn't mean I'd rush to trade for those other players in Boston's situation either.

Of course us fans won't agree with that, mainly because he's not. But we gotta understand when you get to the level where you are one of the top 10 best at anything in the world, you are probably going to feel that you are the best. No harm in that if you ask me. I think that level of thinking is what makes these athletes so great. I believe almost all players the top players secretly believe they're the best but most won't say it. They usually say someone else is to seem humble but I also think Tatum is campaigning for MVP which we've seen others do before

Would any fan trade booker, sga, luka or yiannis for anyone other than that beast from Denver ?

And even at that, would anyone jump to that trade ?

It's silly to trash any player who is top 10 when they say I'm the best on the court.

There's only 1 guy who is above the rest in this league and he loves horses more than basketball shoes  the then theres 10-15 players who can easily 'call game' any night.

The op is just a weird troll
