They made two great moves… KP and Jrue put them over the top. KP’s health will determine their title aspirations.

We could have had both… would have been great fits… great fits… and if we got OG as well… title in NY

I don't think spacing at the 5 is that important if your 1, 2, and 3 are high 3 point shooters. I-Hart at the top of the key doing what he's been doing should be enough to bring the D's 5 out. Else, if they stay camping, they're getting 3 second calls all day long. The other thing is I-Hart can drive to the basket, and he does have a post move or 2.

But this is all moot. Let's worry about today's game and not about Victor in a couple of years.

Don't forget IHart's ability to make reads as well. That's a highly undervalued skill for a big to have.

You're right though. It's still 2024. Victor isn't the roadblock, it's the Celtics.

And the Celtics have exactly the type of C that poses a problem. He can defend our guys and since they're near the rim his rim protection is amplified and then he pulls them away from the rim when he's on offense.

We are 0-4 vs them and have lost by an average of 11ppg, which is ugly.

Do you have any game logs for LaMelo from the last year Greenie, just curious, every time I catch a Hornets game he's not playing.

Right. Chet probably rarely gets blocked on those pull ups and Wemby just sent him packing.

Just seeing two 7+ foot guys like this go at it is insane. If I'm Chet, I'm in the gym and weight room all summer. It's gonna take hard work to keep up with a freak like Wemby

I have a gut feeling they’ll play together before it’s all said and done.

Yes, I do think Randle's injury had nothing to do with being tired. Are we really looking 35.4 MPG and saying to ourselves, "He's being overplayed?" That's garage. And the funny thing about that is his minutes were actually down since the OG trade. That lead was down to 6 around the 10 minutes mark. He got injured when they were up 17 a bit before the 4+ minute mark. How often have we seen in the league where being up 17 points means nothing? 3 back to back 3's and we're all screaming to get Randle back in. If that was a clean foul and Randle hits his FT's, I have no doubt in my mind the benches would have been cleared out by the 3 minute mark. Randle's injury is just flat out bad luck.

Same with Robinson. You can't tell me 29 MPG is considered overplaying. More bad luck. Sharing minutes with I-Hart is damn near moot as much as we want it. No team will ever have players do an even split on those minutes, especially 2 big men like Robinson and I-Hart. I-Hart injury is perhaps the only thing we can look at Thibs on, but then again, he's your starting C playing starter minutes of 30 MPG. I can't imagine he's so poorly conditioned that the extra 10 MPG was going to break him. The frontline got screwed. It's how the NBA goes, man.

How many times have we seen Deuce in come to give JB a breather and the other team goes on a quick run? Often. I like Deuce, but he's not a PG. That's the short and skinny of it. Bro, RJ is playing more minutes with the Raptors then he did with the Knicks. Again, 30 MPG is a lot from your starter? This is insane talk. In fact he logged his 1st 40 played minutes this season a couple of weeks ago. Go ask Rose if he blames Thibs for his ACL injury for Game 1 of the 1st Round on a non-contact drive to the basket? How's Jimmy doing? And KAT, and Conley? Noah and Gibson?

What people by large seem to not understand is that the modern NBA team do not even have on court practices the way they use to and most of the time it's film studies and other things that typically dwarf on court activities (shoot arounds do not count as practice). Until everyone's healthy, this team's starters are going to play heavier minutes. That's the reality of the situation.

So, you are essentially saying that our entire starting lineup being out more than all the other teams is just a coincidence and has nothing to do with Thibs?

When you need 4 paragraphs to defend a clear observation, I’d say your reaching.

Just hoping we are ready for the playoffs, if not, then for the draft.

Mate, you made specific points and I'm responding to them. I'm not just going to pick and choose.

It's not a clear observation. A narrative wormed into some folk's head and you're presenting it as an abnormality compared to the rest of the league when the data shows that's simply not the case.

Let's look at January for example. Top 20 in total minutes played have 0 Knick players. T-Wolves have 3 on that list. Bulls and Bucks have 2 on that list. The numbers in February are obviously screwed up because guys are just dropping for one reason or another, but it has nothing to do with being overplayed in the 1st 40 or so games.

Players get injured. Some of those injuries just happens to be fluke. He can certainly go easier on I-Hart, but there's no alternative right now. In a few weeks, these MPG will stabilize. Hell, Josh can take a game or 2 off if he needs it.

Nah, you’re trying to take an overall obvious observation and break it down granularly in order to not see the forest through the trees. Almost all our starters are out with injury and you want to try to break each injury down and remove Thibs from the equation. When that is his history. You bring all kinds of points in that fit your individual player arguments but are missing what ¾ of the board see.

How bout this, look at all our injuries and just say that a coach known for running his players into the ground is not responsible for ANY of the injuries, because that is where you keep going. Do you work for Dolan? LOL

We just got really bad luck leading the league in injuries.

Nobody plays defense holding their nuts, that’s not a natural defensive stance and you aren’t defending anything but your own package so if you slide in the paint holding your nuts then you aren’t in a defensive stance and it will be a blocking call. A lot of guys will hesitate sliding in knowing they can’t really protect themselves anymore and will be forced to either make a play on the ball or get out the way

Okay so you want more poorly defended shots? The rules are entirely jacked up for the offense. Guys are pushing off. Traveling. Moving screen on every screen. The charge is like the ONLY thing these guys have.

Push offs, forearm shoves, moving screens and traveling should be taken out of the game too.

That doesn't mean that undercutting players about to elevate should be in the game either. All of this stuff needs to go.

Scoring would go down about 10 ppg per team. NBA isn't going to have that.

Couldn’t disagree more.

First off, you’re making assumptions on how highly Leon valued Donovan. We just don’t know. Personally I suspect he was reluctant to pair Donovan with Brunson for a number of reasons, not least of which Donovan could have made Brunson look bad or perform worse.

Secondly, the only thing objective about prospect evaluation is the value of publicly demonstrating that you value somebody highly. It is an intentional and active tool to increase leverage and may have little or nothing to do with the underlying potential of the player himself.

Third, prospect evaluation is fluid and based on opportunity and performance over time frames. Leon tanked his own fugaze shell game the minute he hired DDV to replace Grimes. As DDV and Brunson’s chemistry grew and the team began looking like a ECF contender, QG’s time frame no longer aligned and thus his perceived value tanked. He would now only have value to a rebuilding team because it has been publicly proven that he couldn’t hack it on a “win now” team. Leon had essentially called his own bluff.

To me the only thing sensational about any of this is that fans still drink the Kool Aid on believing MSG will ever commit to youth.
