Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 2
If he's available, I think Ryan Dunn is my favourite target for #32. Terrible shooter and a limited offensive game, but looks like a fantastic defender who really competes, and fits the profile of what we need on the defensive end. He looks like Thybulle 2.0 to me, which is a really nice pick-up in the second round. If he develops an offensive game, he could be another OG.

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 2
After watching this sad team get bullied by the Pels and pretty much every team is bigger, I think we actually need a new vision 6'9, but with skill and shooting. I think Tristan da Silva at 31 is this year's Jaime Jaquez. Honestly reminds me of a better shooting Thad Young. He's a player I could see slotting in between Scottie, Barrett and IQ or just being solid off the bench.

Yeah that's pretty awful tape but he has looked much better recently. He competes defensively, is toolsy and shot the ball very well in high school. He is going to need time to bake, he won't be winning ROTY. I likened his development curve to Deni Avdija's.

I was against Dunn with any pick given his declining shooting percentages and this team's huge challenges creating offense, but after watching the progression of Herb Jones, may be with enough patience we can afford to wait on Dunn.
It took Herb Jones nearly 7 years, but his shooting finally has caught up to his incredible defense. Check this 3P% progression for Herb Jones:
Bama 2017/18 - 27% (0.7 attempts)
Bama 2018/19 - 29%
Bama 2019/20 - 7%
Bama 2020/21 - 35% (1.7 attempts)
NO 2021/22 - 34% (2.2 attempts)
NO 2022/23 - 34%
NO 2023/24 - 44% (3.6 attempts)

A fully-realized Buzelis would not only compliment the system and Scottie, he would be a good fill-in "engine", at times like this when Scottie is down.

They are absolutely loaded with everything a team could possibly need on offense and defense. I'm going to be a Duke superfan next year and will be dumping at least $1500 on them to win the title in 2025.

Counting on a bunch of freshmen to win a single elimination tournament when the odds are going to be so skewed in the first place is a risky proposition.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

He looks like the SF/PF version of Andrea Bargnani. I think he'll struggle against the speed and length of the NBA.

Where are we at with odds to catch Memphis, and do we win (lose) the tiebreaker if we finish with the same record? I can’t remember if they still break ties with a coin flip or if that got updated. Looks like they have more winnable games left than us.
If we catch them, odds of us keeping our pick go from something like 32% to 46% iirc.

I like da Silva's game but he just seems kind of slow. But then again, I was wrong about Jacquez. I think the key is handling physicality.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Definitely in that mold of player. I think the emphasis for Toronto is about bringing in players with a diverse skillset both on and offball and da Silva does project as an NBA rotation player.
Generally, players who are 6'9 and do what he can will be drafted in the second round. His knock is his athleticism, but you can see from his rotations, he can keep up with smaller players or be in the right place:
I just think you get a swiss army knife with this guy. Very low maintenance high floor type that is excellent value at 31.

That's why it's a bet. Even better if people don't like their chances, give me higher odds and take my money.

I just watched this video on youtube.
I just found it funny that this highlight reel showcased all his teammates missing and him cleaning it up.

By skewed I am saying that there will be a lot of other people like you betting on them to win the title and the odds won't be good for you, all that money will be priced in and you'll get pretty bad odds.
