Next season
Just a question:
Who do you keep - resign this summer? You can pick 2
I'm keeping the old guys (Lowry, Batum, Cov) out, because that will get a vet minimum (from us or somewhere else I guess).
KJ Martin and other Ricky Councils aren't that important so didn't include them, they are easy replaceable.

Re: Next season
It depends, what do you want to achieve? if it is to try to win with Embiid in the team, Oubre and Hield are the best options. If you want to tank next year by trading Embiid, go with Harris and Melton.

Re: Next season
Although I love Buddy and think he would've looked great next to Joel this second half of the season, I voted for Kelly.
I think it's more difficult to find a scoring scrapper like Kelly, who can get you 20 in a pinch, than it is to find another sharp shooter like Buddy. Age is also a factor.
Not saying 2.4-3.0 3PM per game guys fall off trees, but there are more out there, some being neglected. See Kevin Huerter in Sacramento who fell off this season due to playing time. Rather go get a guy like him than roll the dice on Buddy.

Hield and Oubre only if they are coming back on cap friendly contracts. If they are looking for another payday on trash teams, then bid them farewell.

All of the above within reasonable value. Even Melton should come cheaper now.
However if just 2. Oubre and Hield

Re: Next season
We’re exposing all of these guys by sitting Embiid and Maxey so we can re-sign them for cheap. 4D chess move by Morey.
But Maxey told Melton, his bestfriend on the team, about Morey’s plan.

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Oubre,Heild ... Let Tobias go please God.
Lowry,Batum back for cheap.
Try to acquire another gem that fits Embiid and Maxey big forward type.

Re: Next season
If Embiid is as cooked as I think he is - time for a complete rebuild.
I don't know enough about the cap and trades, but is there value in sign and trade for Oubre and Hield or are they better off just walking?
Tobias and Melton both sign somewhere for vet minimum, they don't have any trade value.

Re: Next season
In the event Morey can't trade for a disgruntled Doncic or sign Paul George, Lowry is going to come back as bait to pull DeRozan in; hopefully on a cap friendly deal since he's old AF. Then I'd imagine he'd throw big money at OG or possibly Miles Bridges.
PG: Maxey/Lowry
SG: DeRozan/Hield
SF: ???
PF: OG or Bridges
C: Embiid
Perhaps the SF role will be filled by guys on a "prove it" contract like Oubre this year. Haven't done the deep dive into FA yet, so don't know who that'll be. I think Oubre might be too expensive to come back and he'll be more expensive than his production, unfortunately.

Re: Next season
I'm fine with any combination of Oubre, Melton, Hield as long as they're not being overpaid. This team is only going to go as far as Embiid and Maxey take us. These guys are all replaceable in my opinion. We need to be done with Harris for sure. Oubre was a nice addition this year, but he's going to make some money this summer. Hield NOT worth a big contract at his age and Melton has back issues.

Re: Next season
Oubre is likely because he has a very low cap hold like Maxey. We can use an exception to give him a larger deal after using cap space elsewhere.

Unfortunately I was misled! Non-Bird exception only allows us to pay Oubre the vet min again, otherwise we need to dip into cap space or use another standard exception. Too bad!!!

Re: Next season
Buddy Hield is leading.
Think he will be resigned because they went after him and because he fits well with Joel I guess, but I'm not the biggest fan.
Depends on the salary and lenght of the deal probably (3 years/50 million would be seomething I could live with, but not much more)

Re: Next season
No way you bring back Oubre. You never commit to the knuckleheads. You just bring them in for a year and then cycle them out.
Extend Hield. He's a little on the old side, but he's an optimum fit with Embiid.

Re: Next season
I have to believe there was a handshake deal between Morey and Hield’s rep to have him resign this summer.
The question is for how much? (and if Morey will pull the carpet out from underneath that deal)

Play good basketball basically, also especially with Oubre, doing all the little things that don't show in box scores.
