He's sat most of the year, unless injury is a risk factor...keep running him out there.

he has too many defensive deficiencies to be a starter. maybe he can make improvements but I don't see it.

His deficiencies are due to a lack of experience and strength. Both are correctable. He’s a very smart player. He’ll figure it out.

maybe.

i have always been of the belief that it is easier to mold a rookie with good defensive instincts from college to become a decent offensive player than it is to do the opposite.

and there is nothing wrong with getting a 6th/7th man at 13 in the draft.he will still give you a solid 20-25 minutes a night.

Gradey was getting roasted in the pick and roll but he’s shown good instincts positioning himself, playing team D, and having a nose for the ball. I don’t think he’s a bad defensive player because he doesn’t know what to do, he just physically can’t do it….yet.

Yeah, I foresee him being our Tyler Herro next season (and possibly for years to come) - 30+ minutes off the bench as a 6th man.

Quickley
Barrett
(SF)
Barnes
Poeltl

6th Man - Dick

We need a 3&D in that lineup - whether it'd be via trade (Herb, Dort, etc.) or through the draft.

He's had a few bad games lately but it's the ups and downs of being a rookie and getting used to the NBA and more minutes. He's shown us enough lately that I think he will continue to be a valuable contributor.

The rookie wall is a real concept and there’s more data to support it than the sophomore slump: https://theathletic.com/761872/2019/01/11/its-real-and-its-spectacular-how-the-experts-identify-the-rookie-wall/

Btw - the way Darko talks to and about Gradey is making me think he doesn’t like him…

I fail to see how Dick becoming a starter next year can't be "in the picture". We're going to have a giant hole at the 2/3, the only other guy capable is Trent and there is a real chance Dick supplants Trent. If we draft a 2/3 he's also going to be young so that doesn't mean he'll be ready (most likely also going to be bad defensively as most rookies are). Dick ain't exactly going to have a bunch of proven starters to climb over to start on this team next year.

Dick is the rookie and the kid on the team. He takes a lot of jabs and ridicule…that’s part of sports and a team.

Every time Darko talks about the future it’s always Scottie and Dick mentioned.

My guess regarding playing young underdeveloped rookies (19 year olds) relatively low minutes is that teams believe bringing guys along along slowly is better for their development. The NBA season is twice as long as college and throwing these guys into the deep end immediately (30mpg for 82 games) is a good way to burn these guys out, especially someone like Dick, who clearly needs more physical development. If you’re a skinny 19 year old it’s best for your long term health to be brought along slowly until your body can handle the rigors of the NBA season.

Then there is also the possible benefit of “rehabbing” young North American high school players who have been entering the league with greater injury histories because of the crazy amount of game they play in AAU ball. But that’s another entire post’s worth of analysis.

So this wasn't just a random jersey swap for the memes. Gradey and AB are actually friends.

Ya that's certainly part of this gag.

Tho not really sure if your deflecting from the truth or just sincerely innocent?

There's a reason him and 33 are in commercials together and he gets pumped in mainstream social algos already. Gotta be in the club.
