Well, it was. It will probably happen this year, too.

Jackson left Jokic off his ballot entirely last year.

Vegas odds jumped to -2000 for Jokic. I think it is safe to say this one is over...

Mark Jackson is an idiot and a racist.

Hard to believe anyone actually listening to him broadcasting thought it was a good idea to give him a vote.

3rd MVP and reigning champs is going to put a serious target on the backs of the Nuggets. teams will be that much thirstier to beat them. don't think they return to the Finals

They are already have a serious target on their back by winning the championship last year. Jokic winning his third MVP won’t make it harder.

They've been getting everyone's best all year.

It will definitely be harder to repeat because the margin of error is so low this year. They're a Murray sprained ankle away from getting bounced.

yeah, there was a sliver of hope for SGA if OKC stayed first and with a little cushion or even a 5 game gap from the Nuggets, coupled with another game winner or two from SGA (haha) he might have had an opening, with the talking heads and lobbysts all working full time for some agenda like last season

and Luka had a small opening, with his stats and the Mavs really heating up, say if he got them to 4th and the Nuggets would have faltered to #3 with only a couple of games over Dallas and Luka demolishing teams - maybe

However, Jokic vs. Wemby was one for the ages (but that's alot because of Wemby too), the Nuggets back in 1st and will be 2nd to Minny at the worst realistically

Luka falling to the Dubs and getting further away from those higher seeds (and Denver) while SGA has been out a few games and was 70% of himself in the couple games he played injured

it was almost over before but it was sealed last night

They are already getting contending teams best effort night in and night out. Jokić is facing the Rui adjustment almost every night it's actually hilarious.

I think it was over around Feb when SGA's numbers start going down and with Denver trying to gun for the #1 spot.

The 65 games threshold is going to forever work in Jokić's favor

Once you get at least 3-4 MVP’s (exceptions with some) in combination of Finals and regular season, you’re a top legend of the game in my eyes.

Isn’t Bill Walton the only player to win MVP while playing under 65 games (or the equivalent in a shortened season)? Don’t think Jokic will win a 4th MVP anyways

Bucks

3-2 w/o Giannis, beat Suns, Clips, 3pt loss in Boston
1-6 w/o Dame, lost to Suns, just lost to Wizards, only win was Hawks who were on a b2b

The wizards example is not really indicative of Giannis. his teammates were incredibly bad today.

Giannis was 15-21 (35/15/10); non-giannis was 30-82 and Giannis assisted 10 of those. The amount of opened 3s missed was sickening. Like I guess Giannis could've gone 18-21 and the bucks would've won?

1-7 w/o Dame now just lost B2b to Wizards and Grizzlies..........Giannis got smacked up by Jaren Jackson too

Shot 41% from 3 compared to 30% from Memphis and won the 3pt battle 18-7 in makes..............and still lost

Why cant you see him winning a 4th?

Embiids injury issues will prolly keep him out from now on

Giannis isnt the most durable himself and hes had inconsistent seasons

Luka has injury issues and hes underperformed in regular seasons. He picked it up this season tho.

Jdub and Chet will prolly hurt Sgas chances going forward w/ them both improving and being star level already or almost

Bron, Kd, Steph, Harden, Kawhi era players arent Rs Mvp players anymore

Wemby is years away from being Mvp caliber

Jayson, Ant, Hali, Brunson, Fox, Mitchell............Tatum best of bunch but hes been putting up nearly 28/8/5 the last 3 seasons on 57+ win teams just won 60............and hes an afterthought in Mvp convos

realistically whos stopping Jokic from winning more the next few years until Wemby gets there? Luka? Thats really it..........maybe Giannis but who knows.........

You need to understand, they are working in a very crowded field, with no added value from their analysis, they need to generate traffic to their podcast, so they make controversial statements that go viral, just mute them...
Tim MacMahon made a great point on the Hoops Collective, NBA media landscape and coverage is much more advanced, advanced stats are accessible to everyone, so the ability to properly assess players' impact is at all time high, even votes that aren't grounded in reality get called out and ridiculed, like Mark Jackson last year.
There are cases where it's too close to call (like 2nd place MVP this year between Luka and SGA), but it's rare to have big misses.
Defense wins draft lotteries!
Fortune favours the bold, so it ducked Nico Harrison.
