Unless Reed comes from extreme wealth, you enter the draft and take the payday of a top 10 pick.
One bad season or injury and all the money disappears.

We’re barely hanging on to the 6th pick after 15+ losses! lol
Think about that…we won’t experience anything close to that bad next year and you’re crazy if you don’t think this spatter of guys being in & out the lineup (Gary, BB) isn’t intentional or that 2 starters will have close family members die plus 2 starters (one being your best player and the other probably you’re most important defensive piece at C). It took the roster turning over mid season and being completely depleted shortly after just to try and stay bottom 7. Not to mention whether we retain or not most of these guys are likely to continue improving and we’ll be adding at another piece or two through the draft and FA.
I fully expect this team to be substantially better next year. That pick imo will likely be at best 10th but I think 12+ is FAR more likely and if you watched that McDonald’s AA game, I’m sorry I’m not saying next year’s is bad but they did look overrated imo and I didn’t find anyone really jumping off the page.
I’ve checked out some of the names 10+ in next years draft and I honestly think the players in the top 6 of this one look better, at worst comparable. I’m which case it makes way more sense to get that prospect in our franchise sooner that later.
There’s nothing we can do about it conveying or not but I pray we don’t.
Maluach, Cooper Flagg and Ace Bailey, but really won't be in the top 10 to draft them anyways. 2026 has Dybansta and Boozer.

Unless Reed really likes the college life, there is no way he is not going to at least explore the draft. Next year's draft is going to be better ( at least more hyped) than this year. For someone who is projected to be a top 10 pick, it will be crazy for him to go back to college.
Reed is already sophomore age. Things will only get worse for his stock. Will he be able to shoot 53/52/85 again? If he shoots and amazing 49/46/85 his stock will go down a little and might get drafted 10-15 next year.

I would love nothing more than to come away with a big ass centre and wing with massive wingspans, in order to shore up our massive defensive holes and especially our complete lack of depth (we really need a backup centre).
Not expecting stars in this draft, just some solid/potentially elite role players.

If we get the #1 or #2 pick and SA gets #5 or #6 would anyone be opposed to swapping picks and taking back our pick next year?

Yep. Whether it's the #1 or #2 and the Spurs get the #3, #4, #5, or #6 pick, I'd be willing to drop down a few spots and get our future first back at the same time.
Raptors record prediction: 45-37 (6th place in the East)

I really wish we hadn't traded one of our picks for (Atrashji and olynk) always making treadmillish moves even in a rebuild...
I think we could've had ultimate dream draft is we got some lottery luck...
lottery to top 4- Alex Sarr
Pacers pick - Kyshaun George
Traded pick- Tyler Kolek
Detroit pick - Ulirch Chomche
Could've got a little bit of everything, and I actually love all those prospects...
-Sarr + Chomche HUGE ceiling future bigs
- Kolek arguably the most underrated player in the draft, will atleast be a great NBA backup PG
- K.George high ceiling + high IQ , 6'8 wing who can shoot
damn...

I tend to agree although I think the potential is where the lottery players are strongest. I think the guys in the top part of the lottery are all real development types. They're high ceiling players, but a few of them won't be very effective (especially considering their draft position) if they can't improve on certain clear weaknesses.
On the flipside, with the Pacers pick I think there will be a good chance to get a solid rotation player. Not the same potential as those guys in the lottery, but might have a better chance of actually contributing to the team next year. They're just not likely to be a potential top 3 player on the team in a few years like the top lottery talent.
Lets take the guards.
GRP 1: Sheppard/Dillingham/Topic/Castle
GRP 2: McCain/Carter/Collier/Sears
GRP 1 will all likely be taken in the top 10, probably in the top 7/8.
GRP 2 will all likely be taken between 10-20.
I'm not at all convinced that the best guy out of those two groups will come from GRP 1.
I think this is a pretty strong draft for rotational guards and we should be able to get one with the IND pick.
Topic is the best the guard "prospect" in this draft. If he is there at our retained lotto position hell yes. Honourable mention: Stephon Castle, Ja Kobe Walter, Reed Sheppard.
I think the next strogest component is Centres across the whole draft.
https://nbadraftroom.com/big-news-a-loaded-group-of-center-prospects-in-the-2024-nba-draft/
Pick Courtesy of the Pacers.
There are 10 pretty reasonable centre prospects waiting to get a job with several available at the Pacers pick unless we get first overall and take Sarr.
Ideally Zac Edey (measurements = infinity).
At 31. The power forward backfill.
PJ Hall power forward. 6'8" 7' 2" wing span
packing 240 lbs. "He projects a role player who does a lot of the dirty work, throws his weight around, spaces the floor and brings great energy to the court. He might not be a starter at the NBA level but there’s a place in the league for a player with his size, skills and intangibles."
Bobi Klintman power forward 6' 10" 225 lbs "He easily passes the eye test with the way he moves on the court at his size. He’s a legit 6-10 but moves more like a guard or a wing."
Adem Bona power forward 6'10" wingspan 7'4 235 lbs. "Adem Bona is an incredibly fast and explosive open court athlete with quick twitch athleticism. He changes ends in a flash, has great upside as a defender and transition player and makes incredibly quick cuts to the basket."
With the exit of Paskal, OG and Precious number 31 might be our most important pick but more importantly making 3 selections gives us best chance for a shot at a rotation player. Or two.

Really hoping Dink allowed into this draft. One more high upside guy so we don't have that kinda draft and a top 6 pick.

We can get decent rotation players from this if we don't get enamoured with potential but we aren't a team that should be making completely safe draft decisions. If we jump into the top four I would take the highest potential player at our potential pick. I would guess that would rank as Sarr, Castle, Holland, Salaun, Buzelis, Risacher, and Williams.

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 3
At this stage in the process, without draft workouts and combine and all the interviews, I am thinking about talent, fit, and culture. We need to flush last season's bad offseason and final results and build back towards our defensive roots, but do it in a way that is Darko friendly focusing on guys who are about ball movement, efficient scoring and defense.
Pick 31 - Jonathan Mogbo - a high energy big who can really pass and be a really great finisher in the open court. Great fit with Scottie background wise and creates more incentive for him to think the organization has his back.
Pick 20 - Bobi Klintman - a PF with good size and shooting ability that fits an obvious positional need. I think he is a steal at this range in the draft after he played well in the NBL and showed real growth to his game playing against men. He was more of playmaking SF on his national team and in college, so I hope there is some better results down the line. He went to prep high school with Gradey Dick, so already has a Raps connection.
Pick lotto - Stephon Castle - a two-way guard prospect that needs to work on his shooting, but he is a positive impact player and fit a Jrue Holiday type of guard. He is a culture guy by himself in that he fit extremely well within a championship system and was a great complimentary player who brought toughness. Like his fit as a back-up PG, but he could slot in with the starters if they need another handler. Also, gives us some options if we don't want RJ's next contract or decide to pivot.
All three players add defensive flexibility, high intangibles with bball IQ and fit our current roster well. I would consider Collin Murray-Boyle over Castle but I think he is likely to return to SC. Topic is another guy I would consider with a top pick, but I am worried about the fit in Toronto.
