You need to trust your girlfriend or your wife.
But saying you trust or don't trust the Celtics is just too much.
Really???
Unless you're betting a lot of money on the Cs, the Cs are for entertainment.

It's just doesn't make sense to say you don't trust them and next season you still watch them even if they didn't get Banner 18 this year.
The same cycle every year.
Or are there Celtic fans here who will stop becoming Celtic fans next season?

I dunno, it makes sense to me.
If the Celtics are playing **** in any particular game, you might turn it off instead of watching if you don't trust them. On the other hand, compare it to something like the Brady-led Patriots. Even if they're playing ****, you might trust them and therefore continue watching expecting the comeback. That's the difference imo.

Have you ever trusted a team that didn't have Sam Jones on it?
Yes, 1986 was the last time. I trusted them in 2008 until they almost lost to 8th seed Atlanta in the first round. After that I chewed off all of my fingernails. But Leon Powe didn't let me down.

Yeah, it's about watching them.
Trust is just too strong of a word.
Maybe saying not believing in them is more accurate.
If you don't trust somebody you won't spend time and money on that person.
Not trusting the Cs and yet they watch every Celtic game?

Leon Powe was game 3 of the 2008 finals right, the 20-odd point comeback in LA? I remember watching that game, he was a man possessed!

The comeback was in game 4. The big Leon game was game 2.

in my mind game 4 was Ray Allen's biggest moment as a Celtic.
Leon also took it full court like Barkley (dribbling and dunking) in the G6 obliteration/coronation.

Jayson Tatum Watch: Let the PG do Their Job
A recent column here touched on the Celtics’ need to get away from late-game isolations that hurt them in a couple of losses and stick with the kind of ball movement that has led them to the best record in the league.
One league executive told Heavy a key to watch for is whether Jayson Tatum is bringing the ball up the floor, which invites pressure and ends up taking something away from him — even if the reason he does it may actually be to conserve energy.
“It’s when he gets tired,” the exec said. “When you’re fatigued a little bit, you turn and get the ball and you walk up at your pace. If you don’t get the ball, then you have to run. You’re required to run the court. … They’ve got point guards. Every one of them should dribble the ball up the court so he doesn’t have to. But that means he’s got to run.
“Remember the Finals against Golden State? He was bringing it up, and they were pressuring him. I think that took something out of him and out of their offense. He’s too important to have him doing that job, too, unless he’s got the ball and sees an opening for transition.”

Tatum's late game ISO is so bad opposing teams trap him at half court and prefer to play 3 on 4.

Definitely works for teams who don't have elite individual defenders they can put on him, which is majority of teams. Trick with BOS is still not to double and not to put defense on rotation. Doubling Tatum gets our ball movement going. We don't worry about the 90% of the league. It's the 10% that will get us over the hump.
Doesn't hurt to be less predictable in those situations. Tatum as primary offensive engine isn't some unsolvable puzzle ala Jokic or Prime Lebron esp when his pullup isn't working.

Stevens on ownership's willingness to spend:
Brad Stevens: Celtics want to keep Derrick White around as long as possible
Brad Stevens spoke about the Jrue Holiday extension, the Celtics’ playoff push ahead and the team’s future on Tuesday.

Brad Stevens: Celtics want to keep Derrick White around as long as possible
Brad Stevens spoke about the Jrue Holiday extension, the Celtics’ playoff push ahead and the team’s future on Tuesday.
Stevens considered the Holiday move a bridge between Holiday’s two-way impact he provides and the mentorship he’ll continue to give the team’s younger players like Jordan Walsh. The front end of the deal could also aid in keeping the team’s starters together.
Stevens didn’t consider a 64-win season a given despite the talent Boston brought into camp. He placed credit for that, in part, on Mazzulla’s ability to instill a message to a team capable of playing on that level at both ends.
Stevens also explained the team’s decision to sign Neemias Queta to the 15th roster spot. A move that doesn’t project to impact the postseason much, but considered him another young bench piece that can improve into the future and help sustain an increasingly expensive roster.

Re: Celtics 2023-24, Season Thread, (con't)
I read this exchange on the GB last night and it made me think...
First guys says:
"Bigger problem is that the Lakers offense really stalled in the 2nd half. It got sludgy and hard to watch. The Lakers offense is pretty simple, they hunt mismatches with LeBron (either through posting up the PG or high PnR with a big switching on him where he has a speed advantage going downhill) and then when teams double him, they play 5-out and look for the open shooter. Or, LeBron will play a 2-man PnR with AD with an empty corner. There's not a lot of complexity there and they fold late in games against better offenses."
Another guy responds:
"My only question is what team isn't doing this? Seems like every team's late game offense is give the ball to their best player and then try to get him a good matchup."
...
I thought it was a good question. Which team doesn't give the ball to their best player late in games and have them go to work?

That's always been the case.
Even KC Jones tells his team to give Bird the ball and get out of the way.

I survived the 90's! The Celtics are stuck with me whether I like it or not!
