Miami knows exactly what they have in JJJ and Jovic, those kids grew by big steps during the season, they know they have potential there. What I was afraid off was Tyler Herro absolutely getting wrecked and looking no worse than being at best served as 4th option or 6th man coming off the bench. His trade stock if it wasn't already bad, is going to plummet even farther. Which means Miami will ultimately not be able to use him in a trade unless additional assets are attached. It is ultimately going to cost us both Jovic and JJJ together to get star player because this man can't seem to play up to his 30M contract. Or they may just keep him around until Jimmy expires and can then move him with 1 year left in his contract which is far more palatable.
It was always going to cost us at least JJJ and Jovic to just start the conversation instead of getting laughed off the phone. The problem is that even with them other teams can easily trump that offer. Us getting emasculated in the playoffs will clearly make any star think twice about this team. Does anyone think Donovan is looking at us getting destroyed and is thinking, yeah this is the team i want, this is the team i will lose millions to play for? With the way the Celtic are hounding Herro, it’s unlikely his value goes up, instead it will go down even further. We might be looking at keeping Herro for the majority of his contract until his value as an expiring comes into play. Our front office needs a good long hard look in the mirror and serious changes need to be made.
