Don't trade Lincecum
a hitter is alot easier to find than an ace pitcher.
Cabrera is great but Lincecum is too much.
He proved his worth last year

If good hitters are soo easy to come by, why do the giants have ZERO. That is zero in the majors and zero in the minors that can be pulled up this year. Im sorry but the truth is that schierholz , ortmier, or frandsen are not gonna turn into great players. Other than a-rod were there really any good hitters in free agency this year? what happens if the giants keep lincecum? well they have good pitching just like they did last year. What was their record last year??? I understand that you can have a good team that consisits of great pitching and average hitting...but the giants are nowhere near average hitting. They cannont simply put the same team on the field next year, they must make a move for a great hitter, and i think we can all agree that cabrera is a great hitter.
The giants need a legitimate hitter, and if trading lincecum is the only way, then they must pull the trigger on the trade. sometimes you just have to give up a good player to get one in return.

I disagree, I'd trade Lincecum for Cabrera in a heart beat. The Giants already have a very good top 3 in the rotation. Hell, I'd put the Giants top 3 of Cain, Zito, and Lowry against any top 3 in baseball and know the Giants could win that serries. Plus, there is still a good deal of risk in his arm and with his motion.
Cabrera would be a solid 3/4 hitter for next 7-10 years for the Giants. I do really believe that Schierholz could turn into a solid #5 guy as well. Put that with the very young (2 years away at best) speed the Giants have low in their system (A-ball) and the serrious GLUT of pitching they already have (all-star pitchers at every level of the system) and Lincecum becomes expendable. In the end, you have to give up something to get something.
Make it happen!

Aren't all pitchers an injury waiting to happen?
Lincecum and Cain are keepers. This team needs as much talent as possible and they have those guys under control for the next several years. Cabrera is a great, awesome hitter(.311/.388/.542 career) but him becoming a potential free agent in 2 years and at the expense of Lincecum or Cain and probably more, I wouldn't do it. This team is not in a position, minor league system wise, to make a trade like that. If your trading for Cabrera, your likely giving up Lincecum or Cain, Sanchez, and possibly Villalona. There's 3 of your 4 top projected young players right there and with little depth/talent in the system, thats a huge chunk.

Cain for Rios, no. Lincecum for Rios I'd do it. Rios is only 26 and his numbers have greatly improved every season in the bigs. Plus, he has 3 years remaining on his contract so the Giants dont have to open their pocket books just yet. Rios is a solid 3/4 hitter who can fill that spot for the next 7 years.
Lincecum for Rios; I say yes.

No way Toronto would do the deal if it was anyone but Cain or Lincecum. We are talking about a 5 tool, 2 time all-star at only 26 years of age here. The Giants would have to give to recieve. The Giants would move Rios to CF and have Winn at RF and (I hope) Nate in LF.
Again, I'd gladly do Lincecum for Rios but I wouldn't touch Cain. Cain is off the market in my book.

Well I'm glad the freakin Dodgers got Andruw Jones. Well over-paid for a guy who only batted .220 last year.
As for the Giants. I'm sure the Jones signing has to put some more pressure on the team. In their heads, they're probably thinking, "Damned if you do and damned if you don't." In my opinion, I think the Giants should go on with the Lincecum / Rios trade. They have a solid starter in Sanchez, who has good stuff, but hasn't been able to prove it. With a trade like this, we have a good shot at Iguchi at 2B AND enough money to pick up a 5th starter AND reliever in FA.
Then you're looking at instant firepower in the lineup with the addition of Rios and Iguchi. That is, if this is the route the Giants are willing to take. Man, I really do hope so. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Excuse me, what hitch???

Rios is Vernon Wells Jr. at best at the plate, far from Wells defensively albeit he has a great arm (hence he should be kept in RF), and he'll be 27 in 2008. Lincecum and Cain will be 23 in 2008. I think Cain has become underrated by the hoi polloi, but I still think Lincecum is better. I don't know if I would trade Lincecum for anyone. Like, in baseball. Anyone.

Good stuff from the Toronto Sun's Bob Elliott today.
* Just a small blurb from Elliott - the Giants and Yanks have discussed Hideki Matsui. Elliott notes that Matsui has a full no-trade clause. He makes $13MM in each of the 2008 and '09 seasons. On November 8th, Ken Davidoff noted that the Yanks would prefer to move Matsui over Johnny Damon. He added that it could be embarrassing for Matsui to leave New York.
OH NO! IT'S GODZILLA! Stay away from San Francisco!

WOW Sabean is a moron for even thinking about this. Are you kidding me? Only reason why I'll still watch the Giants is because of Cain and Lincecum, HELL F*** NO to any trade unless it's a young superstar like Miggy. Besides what is Rios or Matsui going to do to this **** lineup anyways, we still going to suck with them or without.
