San Antonio has the following 2025 picks:
Atlanta's (unprotected)
Charlotte (top 14 protected, then it turns into two SRP's)
Chicago's (top 10 protected, then top 8, then top 8)

I'd trade down from #2 to #4 if they gave us the worst of their 2025 FRPs.

I'd trade them #2 and the #26 for the #4 and that 2025 Atlanta pick unencumbered.

It is a future first to swap from 4 to 2. That is what Philly & Dallas paid to move up in the top 5. SAS has a ton of those. I'd ask for either the 2027 Atlanta first or swap rights with Boston in 2028.

What would swap rights with Boston do? There's very little chance Boston has a worse record than us in 2028.

Yeah, you are probably right. I was thinking that Boston will eventually be forced to trade away some of their players due to the harsh luxury tax penalties & second apron status, but they will most likely be ahead of us still by then.

They have a 2 year window, this year and next. The core will still be there, last year of Tatum's deal but they would have something like $175 million-ish tied up in Tatum, KP, Holiday, Brown and White (assuming he's extended) in 2025-2026.

Yeah, but even if the jettison Brown to save cap room, and let Jrue go when he gets too old, a team with Tatum, White and Porzingis is going to be better than the 2028 Wizards.

That's a pretty good chance of ending up with Charlotte's 2 second rounders. I'd want more than that to drop from 2 to 4. I'd do it for Chicago's pick - they seem like they're trying to make that 8-10 seed every year.

I might even help boost Chicago's efforts in that by sending them Kuz for their pick this year and letting them dump a contract in the process.

The number 4 this year plus Chicago's picks this year and next year would be a pretty good outcome for Kuz+2.

Don't really buy this for a second. But a Trae Young - Jordan Poole backcourt would be AMAZING.

Yeah, this makes zero sense. We are clearly tanking for the next two years at least to ensure we get our pick and get young talent. Trading for Trae Young is an EG type move.

Does anyone have an actual link for this report?

Hell no. I can't root for that dude at all, and it makes no sense timeline wise.

I think there is confusion on what I'm saying.

If Charlotte finishes in the lottery and that pick gets protected in 2025, then San Antonio's worst 2025 FRP would be either Atlanta's or Chicago's, so we would get that one.

Kudos to the front office for keeping other teams on their toes... just saying, this is a great piece of misdirection!

I don't see anything on Beck's timeline to suggest he said anything of the sort. Looks like clickbait.

C’mon Nat, you don’t know that for sure. That’s 4 yrs from now.

Both White and the oft-injured KP will be 32 yrs old and we have no idea who will be on the Zards roster or how the youngins’ have developed.

Four years ago who would have thought OKC would have the best regular season record in the west conf.

We are talking about whether or not a Boston pick swap has value. I am not a attributing much value to the likelihood that Boston is worse than us in 2028.

I just came here to post this and you beat me to it.

I'm not a big fan of Giddey and I think he is somewhat redundant with Avdija, but it's certainly worth a shot. If nothing else, he is still very young. And Giddey looks pretty good in regular season games when teams don't scheme to exploit his shooting. Let's face it, we won't be dealing with a playoff level scouting report for a while.

And if we get some pick capital in the deal, what's not to like?

Exploring reclamation projects of young formerly high picks like Bagley and Giddey is exactly what the Wizards ought to be doing.
