Yea I am surprised how Long Kyrie has lasted in Dallas, I was sure he would force his way out by now, seems they are keeping him well medicated.

Okay, the only trade that does make sense is Towns, Moore for KD.

Gobert/Reid/???
KD/Miller/Minott
McDaniels/Minott/???
Edwards/NAW/Clark
Conley/???/???

HOW MANY SCREENS CAN GOBERT SET IN ONE GAME? HUH?

If wolves finally trade Towns( or Rudy). I think they have to find a way to get Zubac , I read he is the best at defending Jokic in entire league.

Maybe something like
Murray, Zubac,Powell, to wolves
Capela, Bogdanovic to Clippers
Towns, filler to Hawks.

1) we probably lose Anderson, who has been critical part of our success in regular season and was our emergency "break glass" player who played exceptionally well when Towns or Gobert were down. Kyle also has high basketball IQ, can rebound, defend and pass. It has been a luxury to have him as bench player

2) can Towns stay healthy? My heart will stop if he is injured again

3) can Gobert stay healthy AND productive another season as 32yo?

4) can Conley stay healthy as 36yo?

5) can Morris be an answer as backup PG? if Anderson leaves and Conley has increasing number of load management games, who will can share this load?

Any of issues above can put our "run it back" season in jeopardy. Any combination of two issues above would make it a disaster. Let say we lose KA, Towns or Gobert miss a game with load management. Who is our bigman from bench? Or let say we lose KA, Conley misses a game with load management. Who is our backup PG?

I think the team will be better, even if the yardstick is not necessarily making the NBA Finals to be “better.”

I expect Anderson will be gone because we can’t afford him. I’m pretty neutral on his play last season. He provided playmaking we needed, but his 22.9% 3P% caused issues for the team offensively. I am anxious to see what kind of deal Monte Morris will get on the open market after this lost season (1.7/2.1/5.0). If he’s getting garbage offers elsewhere, and without a decent chance at minutes elsewhere, he could sign here short term to rehab his value.

There is reason to be optimistic about the health of Rudy, KAT and Mike. Rudy takes meticulous care of his body and his diet, and has never been injury-prone. KAT was extremely healthy at the beginning of his career, and his two recent injuries seem to be flukes and unrelated, unlike, say, a chronically bad back. And Mike has said that his style of play, without banging underneath, helps him stay clear of injuries.

And while an injury is always possible to any player, internal improvement is probable. McDaniels (23), Naz (24), NAW (25) and Ant (22) are all likely to get better, We know Naz will - he does it every summer! McDaniels has untapped offensive potential, and NAW has had his moments on the regular season and playoffs. But I expect great improvement in Ant, as he focuses on reading defenses and playmaking. He is very coachable, he wants to be great, he has Mike Conley in his ear, and better playmaking can turn Gobert from an offensive liability next to him to a great advantage if he learns to feed him and use his screens. Over all these things, I expect Ant’s decision-making to improve, and it will greatly improve the team.

Clearly too fast for this wolves defense … he looked juiced

Illegal.

We are above the 2nd Apron. We can't aggregate salaries.

Anderson will be the true "blank cheque" test for ownership. From everything we've heard he's a great lockerroom guy, Finch clearly leans on him heavily and he's generally productive on both ends (he's admitted his eye injury messed with his shooting, which was outlier bad this season even for him). If they bring him back then you know they're serious about paying what it takes. And Anderson himself wants to be back, so who knows?

I disagree that Towns' injuries can be waved away as flukes anymore. He's only played above 70 games twice in the last 6 seasons and has been 50 or lower 3 times in that stretch. Even if the individual injuries change from season to season, its clear that his body is breaking down to some degree. Personally I think it's a leftover from Thibs, since most of his former players have injury concerns for the rest of their careers, but regardless of the reasons it's a fact at this point that Towns can't be relied on to play an entire season.

I saw someone propose a Towns for Ingram swap, so I went into the CBA a bit, and thought it was info I should share

You’re correct that teams over the first apron can’t receive a player in a sign-and-trade. And if NOP extended him before they traded, the first year salary can only be 5% higher, which is why it is incredibly rare. For example, Ingram makes $36 next year, so in an extend and trade, his extension can only start at $37.8. However, if NOP doesn’t trade him, they can offer a four year extension worth $208 mil! No way Ingram accepts $37.8.

So while people want to use the thread to gripe about Ingram or Towns, the CBA makes that meaningless. There is no way MIN can risk trading Towns for Ingram if he could simply walk next year. And Sign-and-Trades are illegal for 1st apron teams, and there is no way Ingram would sign a cheaper extension him to be traded.

Ingram was so bad in the Playoffs this year. I just don’t trust him to be a core player.

KD requested a trade. A kd for Towns swap is super interesting

Saw an article suggesting that we should pursue Sexton:

Good playmaking
Elite perimeter defense
39% 3pt
Similar timeline as Ant and Jaden

What do you think?

It's the ultimate win now move.

KD will only decline as he gets older. Chances are he's got 2-3 years left.

I'd say he retires either at the end of the 26-27 season or 27-28.

That puts a lot of pressure to win in the next two years, assuming he resigns here.

It takes some pressure of pursuing another PG.

I'd be foolish if I didn't think it was a good trade for us.

We've already crunched our timeline, pretty sure this wouldn't change anything.

Is there any way we could package the pick with Monte Morris or NAW in a sign an trade for Gordon Hayward?

He would be a strong playmaking big wing, has played with Gobert and a two big lineup.

He's a good shooter and would be an amazing replacement for NAW or someone else. If we get Anderson back that's half a starting lineup right there.

Add in a Towns for KD swap and that's a championship team.

Conley/NAW
Edwards/Hayward
McDaniels / Anderson
KD/Reid/Anderson
Gobert/Reid

We could pursue a number of backup PGs for the vet min in FA.

Holiday, Dinwidee etc.

Wait...What?

He's tiny, and by every defensive metric I can find, is terrible on that end of the floor...

Just reported what article said, have no clue regarding Sexton and that’s the reason why I asked

Teams over the first apron can’t acquire a player in a sign-and-trade.

I don’t mind the thinking. I wouldn’t have minded Hayward on the cheap, even if he didn’t work on OKC. Who knows?

Lol man, Hayward is beyond cooked. Why would you want him?

Some of you guys clearly follow only the Wolves, and that's fine, but damn.

Sure, for the vet min.
