Update..of who the Celtics have had in for a pre-draft workout. Ranked roughly in order of where they are on my big board (guys who withdrew are in random order tho)
gif hostingI do not think it's a coincidence that they brought both Newton and Karaban in..both guys who were starters on back to back national championship UConn team. Both guys who play hard, play winning basketball. I mean, that Uconn team these past 2 years was a machine..played with togetherness/connectivity..ran a NBA-style offense. They were very well coached..
Newton would be an interesting pick for us. I wouldn't hate it if it was in the mid to late 2nd round. He's a good player. Similar size to Jrue and White. He'd be a secondary ball handler, could play some PG. Can shoot a bit..good passer/playmaker, good feel for the game, can make hustle/energy plays, makes winning plays. Good (not great) defender. I could see him being a solid glue guy off the bench who could be a 4th guard..2nd guard off the bench (if Springer is gone by then) with upside to possibly end up being the 3rd guard (1st guard off the bench) long term if he really hits (and if 1 of pritchard, jrue or white is not here anymore)..
Meanwhile, Flowers would fit the profile Brad has gone for in the past 3 drafts (18 or 19 yr old kids with athleticism and upside). Flowers has already been discussed on here a bit - which is further proof that the Celtics scouting dept/front office reads this board
