Another GOAT poll - this time with multiple selections (3)
Yes, I know - there were multiple threads about it in the past, but most of them had only 1 option to vote in the poll. This is all nice, but doesn't give the full picture.
This time we will do it with 3 votes per person - so let's see how it affects the results.

Re: Another GOAT poll - this time with multiple selections (3)
I don't see anyone other than MJ, LBJ, and KAJ, other than possibly Duncan, but that requires some unusual thinking.
I have Jokic 12th as of the end of the 2024 playoffs. If he'd won the title, I probably would have him 10th. He's just a tad behind Curry now, but Curry obviously has had like seven more years age-wise, so Jokic will blow waaaaay past him if he plays a long time. Top five is definitely in range for Jokic. I'm so curious how the rest of his career goes!

All human life on the earth is like grass, and all human glory is like a flower in a field. The grass dries up and its flower falls off, but the Lord’s word endures forever.

It’s LeBron, Kareem, and MJ. Anything else is sour grapes.

It seems like more than half of the voters so far didn't vote for him. It's a little surprising.

That's my three, but to put Bill Russell in the top three doesn't feel like sour grapes to me.

Jordan, Lebron, and Kareem all have multiple MVPs, multiple Finals MVPs, dominance, 2 way play, are well rounded, and have longevity.

I voted for him, and now he’s tied for 3rd with Bill Russell. It’s not exactly a travesty.

Wow, Russell with 19 votes... definitely a nostalgia/respect votes. I'm sure the comp was competitive for that time, but there were far fewer teams to play against. Anyone that won titles when there were about 10 teams can't be in this debate.

LeBron is the most talented player of all time. MJ is the most accomplished and best player of all time IMO.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

Yeah, I was going to make a note regarding Russell. I still think it’s a bit of a stretch, but it’s understandable to have Bill in there.

What people overlook-
Peak
Jordan
Wilt/Kareem
the rest (I've got Bird, but many would argue Lebron, Kobe, whatever)
Winning championships/records
Russell/Jordan (era adjusted)
Magic/Kareem (relative to years played)
Duncan/Kobe
Bird belongs way up there, but I realize I'm probably along on this.
the rest
Achievements
Jordan/Kareem
Lebron/Russell
the rest
Longevity
Kareem/Lebron
Malone/KG/Duncan
Stats
Jordan/Wilt
Lebron/Oscar
the rest
Of course, there's intangibles/competitive mindset and leadership as well. I imagine Russell would be very high on this list as would Bird/MJ.
And the very last needs to be era adjusted so it's hard to say.

Nope, but when I posted he was like 12 votes behind Bill Russell.

After reading this which I agree with quite a bit of it, who were the 3 you voted for? Or you couldn't decide?

So it seems doing a poll with 3 votes instead of 1 changes the "usual" results a little

For me, I prioritize who played “better basketball” and great ceiling raisers above longevity, so my three are Jordan, Kareem and Bird. I think that Bird in his prime was the only player similar to MJ in that he resembled an unfair video game player.
With these three, you felt that they always had control over the game, regardless of quarter. Jordan was sometimes a slow starter, but he chose to be since he didn’t play point and couldn’t get teammates involved as easily as anyone with a point role.

Yeah he was just a role player. His role was winning championships at every level.
