Thon was a 7'1 Thanasis with bad hands and a better karate kick.

Our only mistake with Jabari was not dealing him in October of 2016 when reportedly the Celtics were digging around. The rumor was one of those draft picks (Tatum or Jaylen) and Crowder. And supposedly we wanted more.

Thos was a 7'1 Pat Bev.
Kevin Garnett throwing the Future MVP did him no favours, raised the expectations too much. We should have kept him till at least find a replacement. RoLo and Ibaka are evidence of our FO being trash.

In retrospect how would you guys rank these draft picks?

Oh…. Then we would have missed out on the righteous indignation of several users posting, “Let’s see Jae Crowder do that!”, after every Jabarles fast break dunk.

Of course, even without the all star yielding, top-5 pick trading Jabari for prime Jae Crowder would’ve been a huge win.

The dude was just a bad nba basketball player.

This feels like one of those times where if it feels like the move everyone expects is taking a very long time to happen, it might be because it isn't going to happen. Felt like everyone (myself included) expected JJ to be the coach but they could have had that wrapped up a long time ago if he was truly their guy.

Feels at this point that we’re hearing JJ’s name just as a favor to him/LeBron. Hurley makes infinitely more sense if they can land him.

That LAL job has to be viewed as a short term cash grab by any candidate. It’s almost impossible to be successful and it’s a complete powder keg.

You got an aging (no longer) superstar who runs the team. He is going to force the GM to draft his terrible son, despite having multiple roster holes that need plugging. Then, he’s going to be bitching at you (the coach) all year to give this kid NBA minutes, despite the fact that the kid probably doesn’t deserve NCAA minutes. Meanwhile, the agent will be griping to the GM and telling him he’ll never land another client unless these minutes happen, so now the GM starts griping at you. The second star shows up engaged 50% of the time, but refuses to play center, his best position and greatest area of need. The rest of the roster is a mess. Expectations are sky high.

I can see why a guy like Redick would want to avoid it if he plans on coaching in the future. Don’t want your first ever job to be a complete dumpster fire disaster. Ask Steve Nash.

Conversely, Hurley has the coaching record and chops that even when it burns to the ground, he could walk into any college program and they’d probably fire their active coach and hire him in a second. Literally, no one would blame him when it falls apart. He can just spend 20 months in LA, cash some checks, and think about his next job.

First thing I thought of was Karaban staying at UConn. I mean, he must not've gotten great feedback, but whew.

ETA it's early and I read it as "he's taking the job" when that's clearly not what it is.

But MikeIsGood. We keep hearing LA likes JJ for AD and his podcast partner isn’t involved at all.

Obviously that must be true. Not like LeBron is a free agent or anything.

Lakers/Lebron really got mocked so hard for zeroing in on a podcaster as their next head coach, that they pivoted out of sheer embarrassment.

This could very well happen, but I'm going to put my tinfoil hat on for a moment.

Finals are on the Disney networks and we just had a weeklong hiatus and an empty sports week.

ESPN source guys are goaded into tweeting, "they are gonna offer a top candidate."

Schefter takes it even a step further and goes somewhat out of character and retweets a hot garbage take from a morning show guy so people will tune into that.

Alternatively he could just continue to run a dynasty at UConn, setup perfectly for the new brand of college basketball, and not have to deal with any of the headaches.

Very different scenario of course.

But this could similarly be our last best chance to get high level value for Khris.

Will Summer 2024 be the end of Middleton’s string of injuries the past few years that prevented him from having a healthy offseason to really recover?

Jabari was so much younger is one contrast in that bet. However so is Khris’ proven ability to be a championship-level playoff killer if only in a Robert Horry ‘call me when it counts’ role.

What kind of trade offers we’d be saying no to matters especially in that context. That Celtics offer wheew.

I'm glad they are moving away from their highlighter jerseys and going more traditional.
