A lot of flat out truth to what you wrote on what she could do, and what would best for her to do to serve the greater good. Yet this is also a 22 year old who is privileged we’re talking about, and who may be simply weak compared to Paige or HVL in this regard. Or, maybe she needs a little more time.
Michael Jordan didn’t say **** his whole career about…anything. I’m going to cut her a little slack at this stage for not fixing [edit: “addressing” is a better word, I know you’re reasonable and don’t expect her to fix it] something maybe no player has ever been up against, and at its deepest roots is no fault of hers, nor her league mates.
Typical excuses when I posted two players still in college that did it. Age is not an excuse at all.
Paige was not even 22 when she did it lol
She is not fighting a war in Russia she is just standing up for what’s right.
The same way black players/ media are defending her in the treatment she is getting …..she can simply return the favor.
But I get it. She is to “weak” for that supposedly right now
Yet you went over Paige’s family background in this thread that I wasn’t familiar with before. I had seen some mention of Paige being black somewhere along the way quickly in the past, but honestly didn’t care enough to dig.
Do you think maybe just maybe her family deeply and fundamentally defined who she is? You really think that’s apples to apples to Clark’s life, and expect Clark can pull from that same well of family driven awareness and genuine understanding? How confident are you that Paige is still stepping up and making that same speech if her family dynamics were more like Clark’s? Wonder what the Vegas odds would be on that one.
HVL’s comment is clearly in direct response to a media member’s question about an attack on her teammates. Yet you act like she just stepped out randomly to make some big social stand.
I love Paige’s message, and it makes me an even bigger fan. Kudos to Hailey for speaking up for her teammates. But in the context of Clark and what you think she should do right now, quite frankly, these examples are rubbish.
I hope she finds her voice and can speak to a lot of things when she thinks the time is right. But all things considered, I can’t blame her one bit for focusing on just getting better at her job right now. Because if she can’t do that, so much of what women’s basketball has gained is going to fade away real fast.
