Pump the brakes. Yes, Young could be traded. No it's not a guarantee. There are people in the Hawks organization that believe Sarr could cover up some of Trae's warts.
From Portland to Reno to Vegas to LA to SLC and on to HotLanta. Winning at life. Too Blessed to be Stressed

I doubt they actually trade him. Hate to say it, but it might be in their best interest to trade Murray instead and continue to double down on trying to build the right fit around Trae. In a way similar to our conundrums with dame, having to build around his flaws and iso style

To move him to a 3rd team, yes.

Portland trades Ayton + Simons + #7 + #14 to Atlanta
Portland receives #1 + #4 + #8, Devonte Graham, Tre Jones, Zach Collins, Clint Capela

Atlanta trades Capela and #1 to PTD, Trae Young to the Spurs
Atlanta receives Ayton + Simons + #7 + #14

San Antonio trades #4 + #8 + Graham, Jones, Collins
SA receives Trae Young

Trying to have each team PAY up …

Atlanta has telegraphed wanting to trade Trae. They get a 2nd tier-ish, younger center in Ayton, and a lower cost scoring guard in Simons plus picks at 7 and 14. They pay up with 1 and a star.

San Antonio gets a star for Wemby, deletes 3 contracts they don’t need and trade both 4 and 8.

Portland trades two larger contracts, #7 and #14, to get #1, #4, #8 and receive 4 contracts — 2 years with Collins, 1 year with the other 3. The Picks: Sarr @ 1 + Risacher (or Salaun) @4 + Salaun (or Cody Williams) @ 8

Young players: Scoot, Shaedon, Sarr, 2 of Salaun/Williams/Risacher, Camara, Rupert, Walker, Murray
Other players: Banton, Reath, Collins, Time Lord
Still to trade: Grant, Brogdon, Thybulle
Buy-out, waive (or trade) the three 1-year contracts (no dead money more than 1 year).

Blazers receive: Trae Young
Hawks receive: Ant Simmons, Timelord, & 14th & 40th pick

Hawks if they want to start a rebuild get another lottery pick plus 2nd round pick as well as a scoring guard to pair with Murray.

Blazers get an all-star caliber scoring guard.

This opens the door to trading Scoot. Trae is a 25ppg & 10apg PG.

Way too good for Portland. But also doesn't make any sense. If the Blazers could get a Trae Young level return for that package, they are better off routing Trae to a third team.

I think for the type of package it would take for young ( scoot and/or sharpe and picks) Trae isn't an ideal target for portland. He's a piece you add to a good team in my eyes not a piece you sell future assets for when you're in rebuild mode.

Now if Atlanta went crazy and would do ant + TL + 7/14 for Trae of course I'd listen but I wouldn't expect they'd go that low with there likely being a decent market for him.

If Trae is traded to Portland it would have to include Sharpe or Scoot and Portland won't do this. And they shouldn't because Portland is rebuilding.

I've said previously how I really think adding just one really good, starter-level PF/C to our current roster would go a very long way toward winning again, but this draft has no player top-10 that I believe would upgrade our roster much (if at all), with the huge exception IMO being SARR.

With that said... Obviously #1 is likely where we'd need to be, and if it could somehow be had in a blockbuster Trae Young trade..I would be all ears.

Could Cronin actually get the #1 pick (SARR) and Trae Young ???
Would Grant / Scoot / #7 / 2025 FRP be enough ???

Draft Edey at #14.
