Then why were all these UFC stars and talking heads like DC and The Count talking about how Chandler wouldn't make it past the first round because Conor would snipe him for overextending. Now, it looks like Conor won't even make the press conference. LOL

Those guys are part of the MMA commentator community who treat "selling" the fight as more important than analyzing it. I like DC the person, but I think he's terrible. The broadcasts he's on always devolve to him and Joe Rogan getting stuck on a single aspect of the fight (and almost always selling whoever the UFC's favorite is). I'll always remember Dominick Cruz calling out DC for doing zero research or prep...and they're colleagues!

I saw some quotes from Jiri implying that he's agreed to a big fight. There was quick speculation that Jiri and Pereira would fill in the main event.

AND to make matters worse, it's being reported that Khamzat is out of his fight with Whitaker next week. So that main event also needs a replacement.

Everything's going bad for them right now, but that's what they get for investing so much into Khamzat and Conor while there are much more active fighters that could have used that push better, like Shavkhat the GOD or JDM.

They replaced Chimaev with Ikram Aliskerov, an unranked absolute MONSTER. He's given Chimaev a hell of a fight in the past, which is kinda the only thing I ever mention when I talk about him...sorry to beat the dead horse.

But either way, that's a hell of a downgrade for Whitaker. The quality of the opponent is just as high, but the value of beating him is marginal compared to Chimaev.

I'm gonna guess Hill is the hurt party, because I feel like he'd keep the co-main against a replacement if healthy. But Uhlberg doesn't have that drawing power. At least Lopes vs Ortega is a really good replacement. Lopes is a beast.

I know he catches a lot of flack, but Chandler's always had really exciting fights. It's a damned shame that the UFC wasted 2 years of this guy's late career on a Conor fight. I might feel different if McGregor wasn't boozing and partying all the way up until the injury.
