I forgot that the NBA Finals (at until Monday night) was still going on until I open this thread.

This was one of the lamest Finals in years for me. I also agree with MrSparkle, the dragging out of games is ridiculous. I am perfectly fine with 1 day rest between games and 2 days when shifting cities.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

In this series, the Celts' defense looked much better against Dallas than did the vaunted Timberwolves' defense. Crushingly dominant.

With its interminable delays, the league did a great job of further killing interest in what always was going to be a tough series to sell.

I watched highlights of the Wolves games, they had some excitement.

These finals though, not interested and the dragging between games killed the last bit of interest I had.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

But ... but ... that's how we got Doug, Chandler, Wendell, and Pat! And where would be as a franchise without them?

Wow!! Monty Williams out after just one year in Detroit. My goodness, that is a ton a free money for Monty. This feels like a best case for him.

Not only after 1 season, didnt they give him a SUPER expensive coaching contract to boot? lol. Granted, I dont think any coach would have gotten something out of that roster, but still. Fired nba coach is looking like a solid job. How do I get it?

I guess that is the beauty of being an NBA coach. You really dont care if you get fired because that is part of the coaching eco system.

They are always guaranteed their money so there are no drawbacks.

Reports were that Monty did not have much interest in the Detroit job after being let go by the Suns. But Detroit was determined to get him so they increased their offer. Not shocked he failed.

This is why people need to stop pitying coaches being fired...all their contracts are like this. It's not a firing (you're out of a job and income), it's you don't have to show up for work for the rest of your multi-year contract and you still get paid to do nothing. Being fired as a NBA coach = winning the lottery.

It wasn't even Detroit specifically, he needed to take at least a year off because of his wife's cancer. He wasn't going to work for any team to focus on his wife. Detroit not only threw a ton of money at him they knew he was going to have to make his wife's condition his #1 priority in life.

This is 100% on the Detroit org. He basically said "I can't be a good coach in this situation for any team" and they hardball pushed him into it anyway.
