The Mavs remind me a lot of the 2021 Suns. A young team with a veteran PG that helped lead a young star and good role players to the Finals.

Kyrie is their CP3 and Luka is their Booker and PJ/DJJ/Lively is their Mikal/Johnson/Ayton.

Wonder if the Mavs will foolishly destroy the team just like the dumbass Ishbia did.

I wouldn't mind big booty Kyle Lowry if we draft a guy like Kolek

Kolek can learn from him

If we were to actually draft Kolek, then I'd honestly like to bring in Nash as a mentor to work with him on some finer points and more crafty attributes that Nash embodies if possible. :D

Honestly I'm not as high on Kolek as others are on this board, I feel like he has a lot of bust potential. A short white guy who struggle to defend. He is being mocked at the 20's but I feel like if it is any other year he would be mocked at the 2nd round, not 1st.

That said, he is a very creative pick n roll player, has a lot of juice on the offensive end, and is a good finisher at the rim at college level. While I think it's a bit wild to think he is our guy at the PG position, but he is a classic floor general, a pure PG who can develop and fits in with our high usage offensive players, and for long term I'm all for getting a veteran PG to mentor him and and let him develop.

Isn't the difference between LBJ's opt in and Beal's contract next season only different by like 1M?

Does it have to match dollar for dollar and if so could we ship out the 2028 second draft pick along with Beal? Not that I would do it just thinking hypothetically.

Couldn't we just give Beal a raise? I'm sure he wouldn't mind.

LeBron is almost 40 he is not going to turn down the crazy money the Lakers will likely sign him for even if Suns draft his son at #17. I know he is super rich but I just don't see him leaving LA to take less just so he can play ball with his son. This is pie in the sky nonsense. It does not even make sense to trade Beal for him if it was possible Beal is 30, LeBron will likely be retiring in 3 or 4 years or sooner. If the Suns draft his son and Lakers pass on him first than if LeBron wants to come here vet min or bust.

Dude is way too hollywood to leave Lakers at this stage in his career.

So the Gambo says we are drafting a ‘prospect’ ?

Given we cant trade our pick till draft day, guess thats a safe bet right up till pick 24. Apparently, with no surprise to many here, theres no market for our meager assets, sans Book and KD.

So Outside of the unlikely contribution from a couple of rooks, this off season crown is Lowery?…. Brutal but true. Whiff on Lowery and we end up with Payne. Hardly enough to make us contenders. Id rate us 6th in the west, and falling. I cant see us being very good.

The only thing to save a mid season roster blow up will be injury. Im beyond caring if we trade them all, as we will still have Wishbea and his toadies.

Is that what we have to look forward to?

Absolutely agree man!
Even if we chose to draft bronny with our pick at 22, James isn't coming and never was. The rumor that was cleverly put out there by Klutch/ Paul was just more mind games typical of Lebron to try and increase bronnys' percieved draft range value by creating false interest.

Although I like him, I can see a pretty decent chance he is a bust too, but drafting at 22 in any draft, you have a decent chance for a bust, as only maybe half of the players drafted in the first round carve out solid rotation minutes.

However, I believe all of the other players in that range have a bigger bust possiblity. Sure a couple of them will be good but hard to know which ones.

Dunn, for example, will be a very good defender, but his offensive limitations would prevent him from ever becoming a starter, unless he drastically improves his shooting, but that's hard to imagine. If he at least could decently hit free throws, it would be more probable that he could become an ok 3 pt shooter, but I don't know.

I wouldn't mind Missi. Maybe Edey too but either of those guys could be a bust too. I liked Holmes ok too but don't like him as much as I did before.

I just think really high IQ with solid distribution and shooting is fairly rare and typically translatable to the NBA. Defense will likely be a bit of an issue, but that's far less important at PG than the other positions. Booker was one of the worst defenders in the NBA for like 6 years, but he still was an overall positive player before he became average defensively.

Nice trade for OKC. They can reduce Caruso's minutes with their depth to keep him healthy. And they have cap space this summer so I think they'll be an absolute monster like Boston if they address their size. Plus they'll get internal improvement because their roster is so young. Wow.

Chicago...maybe should have gone for a pick with Giddey? Not a bad spot for Giddey, we'll get to see how good he is without 3 other guys ahead of him in the pecking order, if Chicago actually rebuilds and some of or all DeRozan/Lavine/Vuc are jettisoned. Otherwise those guys and Coby white are going to keep him buried in terms of usage. But we'll see.
