Re: Bulls trade Alex Caruso to OKC for Josh Giddey
I would hope that there is a pick involved, but people are far too down on Giddey. The off court thing doesn’t bother me at all - age gap wasn’t big and frankly strikes me as nothing as compared to what many players who were older than Giddey did in college, not to mention the pros (and that is before we get into the violence - which Giddey dint involve).
The issue with Giddey is whether his shooting develops or not - but he brings a lead guard dimension that the Bulls haven’t had in a while.

I dont get the uproar. What's wrong with Giddey? He didnt really have a down year. Just used alot less than the previous year.
Basically if we traded for him after year 2, everyone would have been jumping for joy lol

I pretty much hated every Caruso deal people would propose here. The only one I liked was the one that actually happened.

Per 36 last year Giddey averaged 18, 9, and 7 with a steal and a block with a 55 TS%
He's a stat sheet stuffer and looks like our Lonzo replacement as a big playmaking PG. Not sure about his defense, but hopefully he continues to improve his shot.
I kinda like it? I hate losing Caruso and I really wish we could have gotten some kind of picks as well, but taking a gamble on a big, young PG who can do a little bit of everything isn't terrible.
I'll refrain from making any underage jokes.
Maybe now we'll look to dump Lonzo for whatever we can get.
Playing next to Chet and SGA and crew helped. He was merely a passenger. Watched a **** of their games as SGA was on my fantasy team.
I mean, in theory we need a PG, but turning AC into Giddey is just madness. It's another move that is a half measure and we wasted Alex's value.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

I've felt that trading Caruso was the right play for a while now, but my initial reaction is not positive with this return.

whats the issue? i like it a lot. bulls played quality ball when they had a PG who could actually...play PG. caruso is an UFA after this season and will be a 31 year old, injury prone player. welcome josh giddey!

He's a decent PG. But turning AC into Giddey just keeps us on the same hamster wheel. He is in no way a difference maker.

Giddey's not a good defender, but we can minimize the mistakes that he and Coby will make by getting a good defensive center. Not sold on the Coby-Giddey backcourt for that reason, but Giddey is young enough that he can make a big jump in performance. Same for Coby, who has already made big strides, and may be capable of making more strides.

Re: Bulls trade Alex Caruso to OKC for Josh Giddey
On paper it makes sense for Chicago. Pair Giddey with White and you have a potentially dynamic backcourt that allows Coby to play more off-ball as he’s a combo guard and not a true 1. Salary wise it also makes sense. He makes less than Caruso and he’s locked down for at least two more seasons.
That being said, losing Caruso hurts. Best defensive guard we’ve had in years. Great teammate. The type of guy you want on a championship team. Going to seriously miss him.

Lol what did you expect for Caruso? The #1 pick?

That weird underage thing is influencing people's views of him as a player, but from what I know of it (which admittedly isn't that much), it doesn't seem that bad? Kind of seems like it was overblown and grew into a meme more than anything. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Giddey still is very young and has potential, but he is going to his fourth year, are we planning to extend him or flip him?
Why so serious?

I am more irked that we maybe got no picks in this trade which we desperately need.
AKME? More like MEAK with how they're afraid to make a move to push us in one direction.

It just makes me sad that Caruso is no longer on this team. I get it and understand it but it simply makes me sad.
As for the value, I have no idea. AC likely would’ve only been here for next season and would’ve bolted to a contender anyway. Giddey has potential but he sure as hell doesn’t fit with Demar so is this a sign of things to come?

He can switch and box out, but Giddey’s not very good on D. Losing Caruso will also hurt our d.
We basically just got way, way worse on defense

Can’t keep DeRozan now. Just go all-in on youth. Might suck in the short-term but fans will be on board if there’s something being built.

Guys Giddey is only 21. Hes younger than Devin Carter and Knecht and a lot of these draft prospects. He would be #1 in this years draft if he was a prospect, no doubt. Its a good pickup for us.

I dont know why all you guys are complaining for. Giddey is pretty damn good as a lead guard. He was marginalized by SGA. Caruso is a solid defensive guy, but hes also always hurt and is gonna be expensive to re-sign.
I love this trade

Well, we were going to be in the same boat with Caruso after this season that we're in with Demar right now and were in with Vuc last offseason. We avoided losing Caruso for nothing as well as avoided overpaying another player on the wrong side of 30 for a team that needs to be getting younger.
And yeah, any trade of Caruso would have resulted in us getting worse on defense, that's obvious and inevitable.
