High draft picks do have superstar hopes, but those expectations are rarely met even in the best draft years. This year also isn't considered a particularly strong draft, so i'd rather go with the young player who already shows he can play in the nba rather than the guy who might be an nba player, let alone a star.
There's no reason for not going with both options unless you have a weak FO like the Bulls.
That's assuming there's a team willing to trade a proven, young prospect and a first round pick who wants what we have to offer.

Yea, things on the side of Bulls youtube is getting so outta hand, EYE might make a video when I get off work to just say calm down lol. Mike prolly has the most sensible take on this, but im also about to watch sporting logically's video so I'll see what he says.

Re: Bulls trade Alex Caruso to OKC for Josh Giddey
At least he has another Melbourne born player playing in the same city(Tory Taylor).
Watched some youtube videos and he seems to be able to shoot 3's decently enough but maybe he hasn't adjusted to the NBA 3 and just adding more strength as he matures more physically will get him there.
I dunno, I'm reaching for some positives here. Kid still has potential, I guess I'll just wait and see.

As the roster currently stands (assuming no further trades), who is the biggest bull's beneficiary of having Giddey on the floor?
Psychotic. It didn’t make sense. I don’t know how you make it make sense

It's becoming very apparent that the Bulls are refusing draft compensation and opting for players in some lame attempt to remain competitive.
The Playoff P and KCP rumors mentioned a few pages back are freaking me out. KCP is a good player and makes some sense, if we're dead set on still winning 40 games next year. He's older than Caruso. Let's not do that. We just escaped from that.
I'm getting the sense from these conflicting signals that the plan (cough) recently changed, or is changing right now. Or something. I hope.

AKME: DONE!....wait did you say 'and'?

We have no idea what offers were on the table.
But if Presti offered Giddey or the #12 pick (not both) which one would you choose?
I like Giddey but would have chosen #12 in a heartbeat, there's some very interesting players in this draft who'll be available at this spot.

Now DDR will walk and AKME can trade Lavine for a couple of cheeseburgers.
Not sure DDR will walk,I wouldn't be surprised with AK resigning him with a big contract.

I agree as long we're talking about pax before gar took over. We didn't trade well when gar was gm.

I agree and its because I think the team still needs to find a franchise player. #12 most likely won't find it, but there's a chance for it. I also prefer getting a player under cost control for longer.
Giddey has potential and its good that the team got younger, but Im not sure how far they go with him. I'll have to see what other moves AK does this off season.

In order:
- Zach (has never played with a good point guard for an entire season......think about that)
- Pat
- Vuc (he finally has someone to feed him his post-entry passes and hit him for scoop shots)

Now, I agree with you that if he trades DD, then the tank is on. Now that said, the only way I think we trade Demar is if some team offers him a 3 year deal. I expect Demar back on a horrid 2/$80 deal.
Just got done talking with KC Johnson while recording our latest Big Red Bus episode (will be posted later tonight when Fred gets off work), and KC was of the opinion (not inside sourced, just his opinion) that he thinks there's a good chance DeMar is not back after this trade.
He noted there was much less momentum around them bringing back DeMar than there seemed to be with them bringing back Vuc last year and that DeMar wants to win and DeMar really, really loved Caruso. Between the poor fit / DeRozan's beliefs there may be less desire from both parties about a reunion.
You actually know KC ?
Imo the Caruso trade has nothing to do with Demar. AC was in his last year and they wanted to get something out of him and they did they got themselves a good young player who will be a starter.
Bulls being quiet about bringing back Demar could be a tactic to sign him to a cheaper contract. They know they are in the drivers seat here and only they can offer him a bigger contract but maybe Demars demands are too high and they are trying to lower it a bit.

That's some top tier team building there.
.....
One thing I haven't really heard discussed much is that Giddey is probably not as good as White and Ayo. Giddey isn't an off ball guy.
While he is an intriguing prospect due to his age, this team is a hot mess personnel wise.
I would expect giddey to play at sg or sf and on the ball. Coby can play off the ball while playing pg positionally.
I think there's basically a 100% chance the Bulls brought him in to be the starting PG, and Woj's reporting has already alluded to as much, saying the Bulls view him as a Lonzo replacement. AK saw the team look great with a tall, extremely passing-talented PG, and has decided to get another one (absent the 3-point shooting and defense, which is significant).
I think Coby is likely the starting 2, and Ayo's role is TBD depending on other moves.
he could be a Lonzo replacement as in replacing Lonzo's playmaking, while playing another position from Lonzo

For me its
Vuc & Drummond - cuz big guys need to get fed the ball to be effective.
Pat - in a system with tons of ball movement, he's going to look alot better and make the rest of the team better
Zach - he's first got to buy into the offensive philosophy of the rest of the team, otherwise its going to look bad. But there is potential
