Opts in, I think but was probably a little under utilized. Same with Banton, Stevens, Queta but I guess you can’t play everyone.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Oshae Brissett!
I'm ambivalent on Oshae.
On one hand, he's big, athletic, should be hungry to move up in the league, and can finish through contact. So theoretically he should be able to push the rest of the guys. He should be able to make it hard for the Jays every day in a way the Drew Petersons of the world just can't. And we have enough stretch bigs to carry his inability to shoot for 15 mins here and there, as long as he defends and rebounds.
On the other hand, he's really typical of everything wrong with North American basketball development. He's a 26 year old who isn't really good at... basketball stuff. Can't shoot at all. Not much of a dribbler. Bare minimum ball-moving for his size. He's a 6'7 guy who can hang around in the dunker's spot, and who can pump fake and slam it if he's run off the 3 pt line, which necessitates a defender sufficiently ill-prepared to not just let him shoot. It's really hard to see a guy, whose game is so incredibly rudimentary at his age, become a meaningful NBA contributor.

Brissett controls his own future, in the short term. He'll get offers.
Celtics can't offer him much. We only have Non-Bird Rights, on him.

He's got that Ring.
Let's see how far it carries him.
He wasn't going to get many minutes here, anyway.

I hope he finds a good situation. I guess one ring was enough for him.

Sucks to lose him but not unexpected. Walsh probably gets some minutes next year. I'm guessing Kornet probably signs elsewhere for more playing time.

I guess there was not much upside to opting in, unless he didn't think Celtics would offer more.
He's a minimum salary guy IMO, good luck to him. I'd rather see someone bigger and better shooter for a small ball reserve 4. Nice energy guy but I'd just as soon roll the dice on someone else for his roster spot.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Oshae Brissett! – (Declines 2024-25 Option)
It's a small possibility but Oshae can still come back. Nothing prevents him from signing a new deal with the Cs. Unsure if Cs hold non-Bird rights on him after he "opted out."
It's likelier that he explores the market and finds a new home that offers higher pay and/or bigger role.

Played with tremendous effort everytime he stepped on the floor. By all accounts a good dude in the locker room. Nothing but respect for his Celtics tenure. Can't begrudge him for chasing the money when he hasn't had a big contract yet. So go get your bag, Oshae.
