this is so cringe. The Lakers need to remain a circus since they know they don't stand a chance being competitive which is why they hire this clown and they're likely going to draft Bronny.

imagine being so naive you actually believe Lebron had nothing to do with this hire. Just sad stuff man

It worked out well for the Warriors hiring Steve Kerr.

It's a joke and I hope it fails spectacularly like all these recent coaches fresh out of the NBA have. To me the crazy part is teams keep doing this.

If JJ was hired for LeBron, then why was Dan Hurley offered the job first?

as predicted before the whole ruse started, for appearances sake. They didn't want to make it so obvious Lebron was orchestrating it. Hurley is never going to leave the East Coast. Who better to court than a guy they know they won't get? It seems to have worked as people are actually incapable of seeing the obvious

Which is speculation on your part and doesn't change the fact that Hurley was offered the job first.

That's how JJ talks on his podcast, so nothing new, definitely going to be interesting to watch how the season goes for him and the Lakers.

Talking on your own podcast or with your mates, you can do what you like.

I miss the days of professional behaviour when you are representing your employer (Lakers AND the NBA) and talking to listeners that you know will contain children.
The stupid argument that kids will hear it anyway it pathetic. They should hear a professional speaking that shows that those words are okay to use when your old enough to determine the right situation, which is not at a press conference.

I swear/cuss like a trooper when the situation suits, but not when I'm at work or in a meeting or at the shops being served by a staff member etc.

I miss the David Stern days of the NBA's expectations of professionalism.

Lebron swears a lot on the podcast. Doesn't seem like he can help it either. You can tell JJ is irritated by this, because he wants it to be a lofty, serious, reference for posterity. ****ing up a press conference is his way of winning over the locker room. But I agree. I swear a lot, but in mixed company, or around young kids, nope.

For sure, although I think that was not surprising because he played years for Lenny Wilkens, Phil & Pops. He knew what a championship locker room feels like and how coaches approached the season & preparation.

JJ has mainly played under Stan Van, Doc Rivers, and Brett Brown.

I'm still optimistic about him as a coach but just wonder if it will click as fast as it needs to for Lebron.

What are the chances JJ is the Lakers coach in 2026-2027? 3 years from now. I'd put it at about 15%. And I don't think JJ is a bad basketball mind by any means, but it's gonna be a steep hill. He's gonna have to try to coach LA through OKC's 5 out and D, Denver's soul crushing two man game, Minnys defense, Dallas' demon spawn backcourt and rim divers along with adding Memphis' grind game back in the mix to really get anywhere in the west.

That's a tall task for a great coach. I am hoping JJ succeeds.

Yep , agree.

Have not listened to 1 second of their podcast....could not possibly put myself through the pain

Do I think he could make a good coach? Yes, but right away as a "contender"...not a chance...I see this going the way of Steve Nash and he is going to fail, and fail hard so that he loses his chance to make a name for himself elsewhere. I think Nash could've been a great coach, but was rushed into it! Jason Kidd is starting to show some promise, I think he was rushed into things as well, I do think eventually Kidd will be looked at as a good coach though.

I do believe many former players will make great coaches but being pushed into it right away stunts their growth (just because they played doesn't mean they're ready to "manage")

Steve Kerr had also been a GM and was more removed from his playing days.

JJ might be fine but their NBA experience are not similar, IMO.

I sincerely hope you kept this same energy for Jason Kidd, the coach of the Western champions Mavericks.

Reddick won't be canned immediately like Nash because as long as LeBron is there (2-3 years), he's going to be protected. That's enough time to fail a bit (next season or two) and recover to become the long-term coach. i think he'll get there.

Kerr worked as a GM and front office executive for years. It helps.

It also help that car was getting a younger yet ready to win team. This team is going to suck

The narrative is set where he can’t fail, at least for several years. If they lose in the first round, the media will say it’s a win. If they miss the playoffs, still a win.

Everything will be blamed on everyone else.

How many games before LeBron and AD tune rookie coach Redick out?

Jason Kidd, coach of the Western champion Mavericks, has assistant coaching experience. You’re thinking of Jason Kidd, voted worst Bucks coach in 30 years by Realgm Bucks fans

Redick might be good 3 teams from now too

F bombs are still edgy in 2024? People getting face tattoos and kids chopping off body parts but we're talking about a 4 letter word being edgy?
