seems like an unlikely target this year/this summer, but maybe next depending on how things shake out.

not a guy id bet on for nets because i think they need to do something this summer/season to get guys like that to even consider coming here, and i think the most realistic "something" is going to be an upgrade at the guard spot.

more and more Trae Young feels like the best realistic fit unless Mitchell ends up not extending.

100% Fox is a 25 summer move maybe the deadline in 25

Tbf, Barnes contract & other rookie extensions make Bridges look very, very cheap

If the Nets decide to go this route, then yes, perhaps trading for another player this year will increase their chances of getting Fox. But by next year, it wouldn't surprise me if he signs his extension for the sake of the money.

lol facts. i can't believe that guy is getting 250 million, for what? he is nowhere close to that kind of player. But Bridges will definitely look to get the most he can on his next contract.

Been watching a bunch of yossi gozlan's offseason previews (which are 100x better than bobby marks), in addition to the asset limitations, cap-wise the Lakers are going to have a very tough time adding a bigger contract like Trae Young. Dejounte Murray at the lower salary while keeping Reaves seems to just make a lot more sense for them. The bigger question there is whether or not it's better to just keep assets (or use assets elsewhere) and extend Russell vs Murray?

;ab_channel=YossiGozlan

The Hawks are in a pretty interesting decision, it's still hard to see a great destination for Murray, and the more I look at things the more I think Nets/Trae are sort of made for each other assuming Mitchell extends.

Get used to those #s. Focus on % instead of $. In 6 years, when Barnes will be making $51mil, that will be about 22% of the cap. 22% is 3rd best player on your team money.

Yeah he still has to be target numero uno; no if, ands or but’s about it.

and pretty much need to wait on anything else until he decides one way or another. pretty sure nets would be in good shape to land trae unless SAS get aggressive.

Can we fire marks now. Bridges to the Knicks for picks. Omg send him to the rockets. This is joke. We just made our rivals better. The team we compete with for fans. It’s a joke.

are you serious? Marks has gotten at least 3-4x the amount of value he gave up for Harden out of consolidating the big 3. it was nobody's first choice but he turned what was a handful of prime KD years left into what could set up a boston-esque competitive window. Maybe even longer.

Nah, give it a day to marinate. You'll see it was a fantastic move. Marks just cooked the Knicks. Sure, it's with the Knicks. But who cares. Focus on US, not THEM. I'm getting OCK type vibes with what Marks is doing here. And the guy always hits on picks in the 20s... and now we got our 25 pick back which can easily be a top 3 pick. Be happy my dude!

Now the questions are what about the rest of the interesting roster pieces.

1. Claxton
2. Johnson
3. DFS
4. Simmons

thoughts?

S & T Clax, trade DFS, see if Cam & Ben can rehabilitate their value

I like the Bridges trade for both. No reason to cling for now.

But I DO see Claxton looking around now. I expected BRK to have announced a big overpay to keep him…don’t see it now. ORL would love him and no need to go SnT.

Hot take: Clax isn’t that good, Sharpe can replace him and actually has a higher ceiling

Ideals scenarios...

1. Claxton - Either sign Clax to a 3/55 type deal (he's alright, I can take or leave him), or S&T him to someone like the Thunder or Magic who can get us another young player back + 1 FRP.

2. Cam Johnson - trade him to Houston... can we get our 2027 pick back somehow and a salary dump? I really want him gone. Another smiling goon that never did much for me.

3. DFS - give me 1-2 FRPs. Give me a mid teen pick in this draft even for him and let Marks roll the dice. If Marks can get in this draft, like 15 Tor, 16 Philly, 17 LAL, 18 Magic, plus maybe a couple future SRPs, hell yeah.

4. Simmons - dude is toast. Let him stay on the team and open up some more salary.
UNLESS there's some sort of really low key good salary dump type deal where we can net a decent young player and not give up much in terms of other draft asset... I'd listen to that at the very least. But it seems like they want to open up the money for next year.

I'm so excited

I am going to need more than a day to marinate, possibly a week or more..... . A lot to take in here.

Claxton is probably the most interesting situation, unless Ben makes a miraculous turn around.

I think Claxton is gone. Unless we can get him to buy into being a sort of "OG" Net, we drafted him and he is our longest tenured player at the moment. But my gut is telling me he is gone. Sean and Jordi are going to want a fresh start and players to buy in. Claxton may not be that guy, Sean ain't going to coddle him and he shouldn't.

Johnson is overpaid - underperforming. If he can be a lunch pale guy and not rock the boat, I am alright with him going into a tank season.

DFS and Day"ron were both mentioned in trade talks. If we can get a decent return I would have no problem letting them walk. That is the most likely situation.

Ben Simmons....More questions than answers at this point. The huge expiring contract is the first thing that flashes in my thoughts.

Assuming Claxton is now looking out his window at the wide NBA world...and can see the obvious fit and opportunity to compete in ORL. Basically, knowing they can just pay him without giving up assets...

ORL sends: Bitadze (SnT), Cole Anthony, DEN 25 frp, 2 srps
BRK sends: Claxton (SnT), Schroeder

It's only good for the Knicks if they win a ring; they gave up most of their future. Not saying it can't happen but I don't think it's likely and it looks like Mikal quit on the Nets, so quitters don't do well in other places.
