I’m hoping Brunson and co. Are showering him with love right now so he doesn’t think of signing elsewhere. It makes a huge impact as we’ve seen in the past.

Can CAA get his wife a modeling contract, or whatever she does? Would that be a violation of CBA

Yes, it's a violation of the CBA. If a 3rd party company like, let's say Nike, entirely on their own, told iHart... "listen, we'll sign you to a 5-year 16m contract if you're in the NY metro area or the LA area for those 5 years..." then that would be OK since the Knicks org didn't influence that in any way (except maybe wink wink backroom backscratching lol)

iHart would stay in NY for 1) loyalty 2) friendship 3) familiarity 4) his wife's preference 5) more business opportunities.... he'd leave for more money....

I think he stays until someone throws $25m+/year at him which I think would be a big overpay.

Anyone else want to add up these numbers?

I get 186,927,917, not 189,055,997

Hum. This article says that *unlikely* incentives should be counted for the teams' apron levels (although they don't count against the cap). So one needs to add another 750,000 of DDV's unlikely incentives to my 186,927,917, getting 187,677,917 to see how close the knicks would be to the second apron using Cohen's roster. But that's still 1,378,080 off the number Cohen has. :-?

2) DiVicenzo also have unlikely bonus of 750K according to Sportrac.

3) Mikal salary is 23,3M.

4) Diakite salary will be fully guaranteed only on 1/10/25 according to Sportrac.

5) Shake Milton is UFA. He was waived from his last 5M contract.

6) The estimated apron number are wrong. 1Apron 178655 e 2Apron 189486 are the current estimative.

1) Per Spotrac, that 28939680 number for Randle includes his likely incentives.
As for unlikely bonuses, not sure, the article I linked in my previous post makes a point of claiming unlikely incentives do count against aprons.

Let's simplify this:

If the Knicks are hard capped at the first apron they have $13,480,022 to play with (excluding the no guaranteed minimums). They wont have room for Hartenstein but can utilize part of the non mid level exception - I think up to about $7MM.

If they can find a way to include more salary in the Bridges deal without giving up Mitch, they would be $24.3MM below the 2nd apron for 9 players, or $8.1MM below the 2nd apron for 10 players - enough room to tap into the taxpayer mid level but not use all of it (ie: give a vet a few bucks above the mid level).

If they use Mitch in the Bridges trade without taking salary back, they have $22.4MM below the 2nd apron to play with after signing I-Hart with 9 players on the roster, enough to use the taxpayer mid level and bring back Percious/Burks with bird rights - I believe they have about $14MM to split between those guys.

I don't think there is a scenario where they can bring back I-Hart and have the non taxpayer MLE.

The ideal scenario is including Mitch in the Bridges trade, but getting positive value back for him, bringing back I-Hart with depth

This spreadsheet is correct.

It has counted the unlikely bonus for Randle and Donte (value $2129 - Randle 1378 e Donte 750). He only forgot to include it in the spreadsheet.

If you some the total current payroll, the apron space, and the unlikely bonus (2129), it will totalize the respective apron number.

But we may move the red shirts and we need to exclude the 24 pick value and maybe the 25 pick if it is a stash.

Counting Sims (partially guaranteed) and the bonus, we have a 166.676.282 payroll for 9 players. Not counting the rookie that can be a stash.

**** Tamika Tremaglio.... spent way too much time defending Ja Morant and not enough time working out the parameters of the CBA so that we don't have to deal with these stupid aprons.

I give up after this update.

The Knicks actually did draft 3 second rounders so maybe there is some truth to this tweet.

We now have enough money to max iHart with 4/72.

Now its wait and see if any of those fckers are willing to go to 4/100. I believe someone will.

I think it is the unlikely bonus to Randle and Donte. It is around $2,137M.

I don't know. Donte, agree, that's another .75. And I talked about that above.

My understanding is that the bonus to Randle is included in the 28.9. So it looks like he's counted that twice.

Anyway, I guess we'll see when they announce or not how they are keeping iHart.

The Knicks did everything they can to fit iHart's 4/72. Why do all of this trouble if they haven't received word about it?

But if there's no word from his camp, a CAA client, I find that ridiculous. Anyways... its there for iHart to sign.

I think - and, yeah, credit to JCohen (and a little to Richard here) - this is obviously the plan.

At some point this afternoon I was chatting with someone (apologies, not sure who it was now) about whether they would sign three 2nd rounders or sign vets for vet min. Turns out I was "correct" that the cheaper 2nd rounders were the objective.

Afaics, the Knicks still need to finesse the Bridges trade so they don't have more than 110% of salary coming in. That means adding someone going out, who could be a roster player, a cap hold sing-and-trade or a picked-up-option ... as far as I understand (... and caveat emptor).

Randle has 2 bonuses. The first one is likely and it is a cap hit. The second one is unlikely and we have to count just in case for hard cap purposes.
