I''m not sure if he'll carryover to the NBA buuuut if he does....I LIKE what I see.

DOG...like Davion (I love that we brought in FINALLY brought in THAT kinda attitude)

But if Shead can translate to the NBA, he looks like he actually has some TRUE PG skills. I'm obv NOT saying he's anywhere near the level but he has a "floor general" feel to his game & genuinely looks to get his teammates involved that reminds me of Lowry. To be clear Kyle is/was obviously a vastly superior player with much better shooting in particular BUT it's watching HOW he plays. They're genuinely looking for teammates, setting an example by playing hard, controlling the floor, not fearing contact. Those are the things that jumped out at me, he seems like a player with real intangibles.

Of course I don't think he's gonna come anywhere near to Kyle but I just like that I see some of the same stuff in him and the other stuff that isn't and that's again a DOG, I can't say how much I appreciate having some on the squad, I love players & teams with an edge. He may not even stick on the squad but I at least like the type of player he represents. Have no problem giving a player like that a chance to make it in the league.

The mentality that he plays with is what made Kyle and Fred play bigger than they are.

Shead was the key factor in Houston's style of play that was so successful recently. Carried over even when moving to better conference. Hopefully he can be a somewhat neutral bench offensive player.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

My only question is why do we need both him and Davion Mitchell?

Davion will play back up minutes right away. While Shead will be with the 905 for most of the year

It’s great if Davion Mitchell is our backup PG for the futur but this has yet to be determined

He is expiring contract

Shead will be the third PG. will probably share minutes in 905 and on the roster as well

We will see if Mitchell, Shead or another player (subsequent trade or draft ) is our long term PG

For now I like the Mitchell / Shead combo

Both Walter and Mogbo were on my draft board for pick #19 and 31

Not BPA on my board (would have been Collier and Flip) .

Shead was not in my radar at 31

But he is the pick I am most excited about. I love the attitude. My kind of player .

I agree that he has some Lowry qualities (will not back down from anyone, is all about winning, leader, etc).

My favorite things about him are all the so called "intangibles". His aggressiveness, effort, toughness, instinct, etc. I love the physicality defensively. He has good rim pressure. If he can develop into a slightly below average to average shooter, he can be a play in the league for a long time I think. I can see him become a fan favorite quickly.

So they can battle it out and we keep the winner. And that works because there's no long term commitment to either of them.

I mean....I don't see a future wherein we keep both of them. We need to remember.....stockpiling all these under 25 players (non-blue chip prospect types) is not a bet we hit on all of them. If we hit on 30% of them then we're doing good.

The hope is probably that either Davion saves his future by taking a step or Shead excels with his first chance. Even if both of them disappoint....we lose nothing.

Good, he's worth an actual roster spot. Sucks to suck, teams that only offered 2ways!

Or maybe theres a reason they only offered him 2 ways.

My expectation is that they'll get Davion back on a team-friendly extension that won't break the bank and that's good for a few more years. He's not a game changer nor will he play big minutes. He's a good defender though and I don't think he will be a net negative in the minutes he eats up while Quick is off the floor. I think it's established that Davion's destiny in this league is as a backup.

Will Shead ever crack the rotation on the big club? Who knows? He's definitely the kind of person you want in the system though. Seems like a good kid and plays with an edge. And he certainly compares himself to Davion so being around Davion being able to push him in practice will be good for his development.

What does that mean? Which undrafted player gets an offer that is NOT a 2 way?

These offers came to him so that he has the option to tell teams "don't draft me" if he doesn't like his destination. (Which has been happening more frequently late second round nowadays)

It goes to show he actually wants to play in toronto.
