So far: Plumlee is OK, but he is on the decline, while Eubanks is in his prime (and had a really sub-par year compared to his previous standards). I think this is a very minor upgrade, if any.
Gillespie is a very nice 3rd string PG, who will likely be a tiny bit worse than your average 2nd stringer, due to his size and (lack of) quickness. It is OK, but nothing to write home about.
Keeping O'neale and Bol is good - but doesn't move the needle as we have seen from last year. Rookies are unlikely to move the needle, but I'm not against Dunn for about 10 minutes a game, trying to distrupt offenses. Not sure what he is doing on offense if he is not a smallball 5 in the dunker spot.
We are not significantly better than last year - only by the "medicore3" spending a year together, and while I hope Bud will do his magic, I m really doubtful that it was this big of a coaching problem, and pretty positive that it is a player problem and it will remain to be a player problem with Book and KD refusing to do what any coach says, if its not "middy" "in my bag" "king of court" "clear the court" or "iso". We'll see and I hope I'm wrong. (also, dont be surprised if one of them asks out after the olympics)
So: the remaining job - get rid of Okogie (sorry, we just got the bigger version of you for cheaper), get rid of Roddey (or whatever his name is, he didn't cut it). Get another PG from the pool of Tyus, Markelle if you can for the min. If not, then whoever is left from the Morris/Payne/Lowry/PatBev "sorrow-bunch". Try to get a PF somehow - I have honestly no idea who and how.
And the most important for the upteenth time: wait to fill your last roster spot with the guy who will get left out in the cold after its all said and done. That will mean a lot to this years bench, no matter who we are talking about - if we get really lucky and pick up this years Oubre we can easily trade O'neale (or god forbid, Allen) before the deadline for another need.
