I wonder what the dollars are this year.

I’m sure we’ll see shortly, but I have to assume it’s a minimum. Can’t see us going into the tax for James.

couldn't it be tax space less a minimum? didn't we have two open rosters spots and a little over two minimums of space below the tax?

I like the bottom information on this picture. I think Wiseman is a good get and at least he’s taller to matchup to the bigger centers they face.

It could be, but Myles and TJ have unearned incentives that I assume the team would like to keep space for, just in case?

Unexpected signing tbh, but I was hoping for a third string center. There probably isn't tons of hope he pans out as a reclamation project, but you never know.

Probably the one thing we know about him on the court,... he can run. :D

Pretty consistent at 11 Rbd/36 minutes,... about the same as I-Jax & Stix,... but quite a few of those still come from length. He was much better in Detroit,.. but that's not saying much,.. he still got pushed around. His biggest issue has generally seemed to be his feel, IQ, understanding of how to read the court in the flow. If he can't learn that part well enough to at least play backup minutes with the team, with this coaching staff, then he's likely roster filler

I haven’t seen a contract number yet but did notice on cap sheets website for the Pacers that Wiseman is listed at $ 2,237,692 for 2024-25 and $ 2,546,674 for 2025-26.

Anyone else seen any dollar figures yet ?

Capsheets has the Pacers at 13 rostered players for $165,059,742 total payroll. Add 1.83 mil dead money and the total salaries are currently $166,893,500 with possibly 1 more spot to fill or leave empty plus the 3 two way contracts which don’t count against the salary cap.

So unless the Pacers decide to do a trade they’re about set.

The pacers do have a pretty good player development system and not much will be expected of him. I don’t mind the signing but probably would’ve preferred a decent vet center who actually understands how to play basketball.

His per minute is about the same as Jalen Smith but he doesn't have the 3 pt shot that smith showed last season. I like this signing as long as it's league minimum.

 There were only 15 player in the league (with more than 100 attempts) that had a better 3% than Jalen last year. But, your point is solid. He doesn't have a 3. Playing on the second unit, probably with OB1,.. that shouldn't be too much of a problem. however,.. because of that issue,.. he is going to have to set screens, roll in the P&R, & post up - similar to Pascal. Those are the things that I really want to see out of him. So far, he has shown glimpses,... and was much better in Detroit,... but still hasn't shown that he can play that game consistently with any degree of success?

Omari Sanfoka II: Wiseman on where he improved this season: “Screening got better, the defense improved and talking on defense. Doing the little things right that I wasn’t doing at first, especially at Golden State.” -via Twitter @omarisankofa / April 15, 2024

Omari Sanfoka II: Wiseman on how much working with assistant coach Mark Bryant helped this season: “Very instrumental – working on my low post, being more patient and just going out there and making sure I’m playing fundamentally solid.” -via Twitter @omarisankofa / April 15, 2024

Might be time to contract with Roy Hibbert for the summer/pre-season. He may have the right advice for Wiseman's development?

This is really interesting. This guy was the number two pick just a few years ago, and now he is taking a partially gtd minimum contract?

I haven't watched him much, but going only by stats he doesn't look like he is horrible or anything.

Did he just feel like his back was against the wall, career wise, or what? I don't remember reading anything about him having gotten in legal trouble or being a trouble maker or anything like that. So what gives with him?

He hasn't been in any real trouble,... legal or otherwise. He got praise from his teammates for his work ethic & selflessness in Detroit. There, he was well spoken of as someone who needed to learn 'how to work' and 'how to learn' not just put in the time, and he was doing it,... he basically had his rookie year the first year he was in Detroit,.. but they already invested in Duren.

His skill development just doesn't fit most teams? He was drafted to protect the rim & be a defensive rebounder by GSW,... when those were/are known to be the worst parts of his game. Great athleticism,.. great size,... but a 7' center, who doesn't protect the rim well,.. didn't rebound defensively, and doesn't have an offensive game outside the post, wasn't going to get anywhere in GS. Detroit got him in a dump. He doesn't really fit well with most teams at the moment.

He still has a HUGE amount of potential,... but it is still going to take some unlocking before it gets there. His first season in Detroit, he was a 25 minute, 12.7 ppg, 8.1 rpg guy,... but Duren proved a better rebounder, screen setter, passer.

a 3rd center on a developing team is probably a good place for him,... in Indy, he will get coaching, he will get whatever he earns,.. and only what he earns,... and he shouldn't have any of the pressure on him, that he had in GS?
