Dadiet may have gotten a promise from the Knicks that he would be drafted in the first round, if he took less than the scale amount. This will result in over $900 thousand in in savings for New York. That amount is significant, as the Knicks are trying to create as much wiggle room as possible to say below the tax aprons.
This is interesting to me, so the Knicks were always going to take Dadiet whether he was there at 24 or 26, and were assured by Washington that they were going to take George to secure the trade?
In which case, why did we trade up?
If they required assurance that we were not going to take Dadiet w/ 24 but were going to take George, then if they made the trade it means they can't have wanted George. If they'd wanted to get George, they wouldn't have made the trade.
But, if they didn't want George, we didn't have to trade up to be sure of getting him!
Hence... why did we trade up? Once they were receptive, we could have just said we'd "changed our minds." & George would have been there at 26.
