The main thing to think about, with these moves and any other potential trades or signings, is that the Knicks and Aller are VERY reluctant to give up the ability to maneuver, so any moves that will be made will maintain their ability to deal at the deadline and the near future.
I don't mean huge trades, just the ability to act.
I'm sure they know that as they get better and made/make the moves that get them to true championship contention, the window of moves gets smaller, but pretty sure they will not give it up. I don't think any well run team would.
So, for the Kessler speculation, IF the Knicks were to do it, they'd only do it IF it didn't tie their hands at the deadline etc.
Same for whatever they do with Precious and any other moves from here on out.
Good post. Leon is all about flexibility. I don't know if they'll make a move before the deadline this year. In theory, they could trade Sims, Precious (if resigned), Rokas . . . even Mitch or Randle for the right return, though I think they should keep Randle. There's not a ton to work with. It's mostly not valuable pieces or pieces we depend on, but you never know.. Another trade might happen.
I really like their draft this year. Pacome is a young player to dream on. Kolek & McCuller could be rotation players/depth players fairly soon. Hukporti's timetable is harder to predict, but maybe him too. It's nice having some youth in the mix. Much better than the end of the bench we had last year. Yuck.
They still need to fix their PF & Center depth, and funds are limited. Another team could sign Precious for more money just to screw us.
No picks right now, and I don't think they can trade their 2026 pick, just the Pistons and Wizards protected picks and a collection of 2nds. I think it's better to wait and see if the Pistons/Wizards picks materialize into first rounders rather than trade them now.
