Like this kid and the new thread title. Massive kudos to those Hornets players who showed leadership by being there for him and the team. Brandon Miller IS our leader. This will be HIS team. Melo must have had another ink session.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Miller is in his second year, that's why he's there.

Melo not going to summer league practices says nothing about his leadership.

Grinds my gears how often the most trivial things are used to try to criticize Melo.

Edwards has behaved significantly worse than Melo, but the narrative differences surrounding them is insane

I would LIKE for Melo to do these things. Does he have to? No. Would it be better if he DID those team focused things to demonstrate leadership? Absolutely.

Everyone on this board has probably been part of a business organization, a sports team, or part of a work crew. Key people help drive performance. Those who participate and demonstrate their caring of their fellow workers/teammates/crew are difference makers & leaders. Same holds true in sports.

I’m not saying Melo does nothing, as I know he does. Grant has spoken to Ball’s quality as a teammate and his dedication verses the league wide perception. Melo needs to do this more in these types of settings or situations IMO. So I call him out when I don’t see it.

As for Salaun, he’s got plenty to work on, and glad he’s hit the gym immediately to start the journey.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Maybe because one stays healthy and advances in the playoffs.

Look I was supporting LaMelo just yesterday, but people must understand he will never be respected as a player until he stays on the court.

You got people on the GB literally saying he sucks and he's not someone you can win with. I'm like people check his stats when he plays he's one of the best pg's in the game.

Just stay healthy LaMelo that's all I ask. Nobody is expecting him to be our team leader at this point. Leadership is not for everyone. Kawhi was a great player who didn't lead, so was KD, and I can go on and on.

LaMelo literally just needs to stay on court that’s the only thing he’s ever needed to do.

Salaun can dunk and hang by one arm and make some threes but beyond that seems like a giant spaz

not the sort that can't get better, but rather like the baby deer who needs to grow into his body

None of that has anything to do with their reputations among the basketball community

People use the trade thread to talk about Salaun. People use the Salaun thread to talk about Lamelo and Ant Edwards

The general board means absolutely nothing within the basketball community and inner nba circle. Lol

The signing photo made me think that the guys showed up because Salaun's family is likely still over in France. I've personally experienced moving to a different country for a job and not fully knowing the language -- not everyone can do it. Let's all keep that side fact in mind while he's developing this year. He's juggling more than basketball.

We need Biz back in this locker room. He formed a bond with LaMelo when he was last here and he speaks fluent French and English. I think he'd be great for helping Salaun adjust to the NBA.

Also, having both him and Kemba back in Charlotte would just be really freaking cool.

There are lots of african born athletes who speak french actually, not just Biz. One that could be intriguing is Capela (he was developed in France before joining the nba for people who did not know/forgot).
Tidjane should be able to speak a decent (scholar maybye) english, and the game itself is american so i don't think it will be hard for him to understand what the coaches ask him to do.

Also he will contact former Hornets (and there are quite a few) so i doubt it will be tough for him to acclimate, esp. in a city which is basically 'european size' (for the record, Cholet has around 50 000 inhabitants). In an itw on some media here, he said he tried to contact Batum about the city/team etc but without luck (at that time, i have no doubt Nic will provide plenty of info despite the bad ending). But he had info from others (Gobert etc).

As for his family, they will be watching Janelle (his sister) in the olympics most likely (stil 15 players but she should be part of the final squad).

I believe they said Salaun speaks four different languages (including English). He obviously impressed Peterson with more than his basketball skills. Seems like a smart young man who’s excited to join his new pro family. Good stuff being built here.

If his purported work ethic is true, I love his outlook. Just get dudes who love ball and it'll work itself out.
