saw this article on ESPN about her season thus far.

https://www.espn.com/wnba/story/_/id/40471104/wnba-2024-caitlin-clark-indiana-fever-rookie-midseason-stats-analysis

tl;dr

she's the 2nd best ball handler in the pnr behind only jackie young in the entire W. she's even better when blitzed, hence why teams stopped doing it as frequently, though even til now she's the most blitzed of any player in the W. pnr with aaliyah boston might have struggled early because pnr hasn't been a big part of aaliyah boston's game stretching back to south carolina, but clark to boston assists per game have risen from 1.3 to start the season to 4.0 assists per game now

her 3-pt shooting has improved as the season has gone on.

the fever offense was 11th in the W to start the season but in the month of june, it's the 3rd best.

she's on a historic TO pace in the W, currently has 112, next is alyssa thomas with 72. though she also has the ball in her hands more than any other player taking over a thousand dribbles more than any other player in the W

the fever are good against bad teams but really bad against good teams

I thought Clark being named to the All-Star game might have given her a boost tonight against Las Vegas, but it wasn't her best game. Even her passing seemed sloppy. There had been some who were thinking the players and media might freeze her off of the team, but that didn't happen.

It was Game 5 of the road trip, so perhaps that was a factor. We shall see -- the Fever now started an extended home schedule.

Too bad it starts with the Liberty.

True that. On the bright side, the Fever only have 2 road games left this season against teams with a winning record.

You did. We''ll see how much attention the press gives it, they've really been pushing Reese's double double streak.

Big grinder after all for the Fever. Huge win. They need to go on a winning streak now.

i think the fever finally figured out that the best way to put up points is to just run and gun. they're taking the old thunder strategy of having the bigs box out for westbrook and letting them run loose. her numbers to end the year are going to go crazy because she's just going to keep racking up boards and assists

WOW!

They finally gave Angel Reese some shine on World News. Nice to see they are starting to include Reese with Clark. Still weird they are discussing Clark so much on World News. I mean sports are entertainment, but I don't want to see sports athletes on my world news daily.

Spot on. In fact, before reading this post, I was making that very same comparison with Westbrook, in my head. Caitlin's a good rebounder for a guard but her numbers are inflated, and will be even more so, because the Fever have figured out what you just wrote. Their best bet to win a game is let Clark grab every uncontested rebound, while the other 4 players sprint up the floor. Now that they realize that's how to play, they're not going to stop doing that.
