Bring out the tank year (unlike the recent draft)

Seeing the Pistons "tried" to improve, i think the Hornets can out-tank them for Flagg.
If there is no basketball in heaven, i am not going.

I don't care if that is a great high school team with a bunch of other top players, one of his teammates averaged exactly the same averages points and rebound averages. The season prior it was the same guys and he averaged 9.8ppg 5.2rpg and was like the 3rd or 4th leading scorer. If you are some generational talent I think you really need to be dominating high schoolers in a way that is tangible on the court. Luka and Wembanyama for example dominated professionals.

I expect him to be the #1 pick and longterm it will probably work out well, but a lot of people are already talking about him as the best player in college basketball or top 5. I think expecting a 6-9, 200lb dude that plays in the post to come into college basketball at the age of 17 and be a top 5 player like I've seen some pick him is ridiculous in the super senior era. Freshmen are struggling more than ever per kenpom.

He not only has that working against him, he doesn't turn 18 until like the last week of December when there will be many 23 and 24 year old 250lb post players in college basketball next year in the last year of the super senior. It's basically like a high school Junior playing in college basketball if you take his age and those in their 5th or 6th years and he will run into Bacot and DJ Burns types.

It’s about points per possession right? but you talking about raw stats here.

We'll we are guessing there, unfortunately, at least his senior year. His junior year we have the minutes which is a good stand in and he was productive per minute. The cool thing is we have his percentages and a good idea of his advanced stats most likely were buy . They were solid, but I would have expected him to have a true shooting for example more like 68 or 70% if he's mostly shooting 2 pointers like he was. It was 63%. That's good, but it's on lower volume and usage where he has plenty of other options to take the pressure off him and still wasn't just absolutely crushing it. Doncic basically had a 60% true shooting in 35 Euroleague games at the same age for comparison.

Hey just gotta say you are not as smart as you think and wasted a bunch of your time today, check out that scrimmage

They play nothing alike. MPJ was a bouncy sharpshooter who was an extremely high volume scorer and was not known for his defense or facilitating.

Flagg is an elite defender and many think of him as one of the better defensive prospects to come out of American high school since AD. Flagg is also more of a fill up the stat sheet kind of player, not a high volume scorer. His 3pt shot is viewed as one of the weaker aspects of his game.

MPJ before the back injuries was a stud in high school. I just think him and Flagg are almost polar opposite kinds of players coming out of high school.

This is exactly what Flagg is touted to be. His handle is unimpressive and his distribution ability is unimpressive.

Uhm, no.... that is not what he is touted to be at all....

People are super unimaginative

We did compare him to AK47, AD and KG the most I think. Gordon Hayward and Chase Budinger comments were just obvious trolling, not to mention some other takes, Josh McRoberts

Johnny Dawkins, Billy Owens, Waymon Tisdale, Pervis Ellison, Stacy King etc were all “can’t miss” prospects who missed big time

Wow, you telling me not every prospect pan out? Gee thats crazy... If you dont like the kid, give good scouting report, not just be usual Hair Jordan guy, aka a troll.

I don't know this guy at all and never saw his highlights until yesterday.

That said, he seems legit 6' 8"+ with hops.

I like the Bobby Jones comparison someone made. Jones was a lean, tall stud athlete who excelled on the break and on defense. He was a force.

Jones won a ring, was an All Star five times and is in the Hall of Fame.

If Flagg could be at that level or beyond, that would be great.

Cooper looked shorter than Bam (6’8.75) and noticeably shorter than AD (6’9.75) in game. He looked very similar in height to Trayce (6’8.25) and Keegan (6’8) when lined up at the foul line. But hey the kid is young, he could still keep growing.

Stupid question, is there a way to watch that scrimmage, I assume we are talking about team USA camp? How did my guy Nigel Hayes do, did he play?

Dissapointing to hear he is still shoeter than Bam, I thought he would be taller by now.

Where is anyone saying he's taller than those guys? He's 6'8.

This is probably the longest footage currently available.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Coop is around 6'8" barefoot, just so no one is confused. He's taller than 6'7.75" Carlos Boozer and Kevin Love. His wingspan and standing reach look great, so he's definitely not undersized for a wing. And judging by his frame, he looks like he could defend bigger PFs and smaller Cs when he physically develops.

Carlos Boozer and Brandon Ingram most likely have very similar measurements:

Boozer: 6'7.75" barefoot height; 7'2.25" wingspan; 9'1.5" standing reach
Ingram: 6'8" barefoot height; 7'3.0" wingspan; 9'1.5" standing reach

It obviously would be nice if he could grow an extra 1-2 inches. But he's big enough right now to play the SF, PF, and even some small-ball C. Weight notwithstanding in the meantime...

You forgot something like 10 consecutive All-Defensive (1st) for Bobby Jones.

17 years old and holding his own against the NBA's elite. It's understated how ridiculous this is and frankly not even worth arguing with anyone who chooses to remain in denial.

I noticed that he has a short neck and very long arms, so I think it's okay even if he doesn't grow from here on out. He looks like he has a 7'2ish wingspan already.
